One thing about Neil Young, he doesn't give a crap about what his audience wants to hear, he plays what he wants.

Another reason to love the guy. Always stood by his beliefs, no matter the consequences.

German outfit which is a cross between Deep Purple and Uriah Heep. Singer John Lawton had a short stint in Heep.

They played the Ritz; right around the time the Clash took up residence at the Rose Ballroom for a week. Usually decent room at the Ritz for drinking scoping and rocking; that night the place was scary packed. I thought the Jam were under-amped; not enough hair in their live set for me (Graham Parker can do that, for a singer-songwriter). Played all the hits, but I was really uncomfortable in the back of the floor by the bar entrance. Obviously NYC was full of Jam fans that never got a chance to see them; hectic event. Shame.

Appreciate the story/insight. I had the same experience for The Clash's opening night at Bond's Disco in Times Square (The old Bond's Dept. Store, BTW.)

Great gig/performance by the band, but I was worried the entire night about getting trampled during a fire, etc. NYC Fire Dept. closed down the rest of the shows.

THAT'S the one. Something went down at the Rose with the Clash as well, but the Bond's thing was Clashamania. I'm envious.

"Brew and Burger waters down their pitchers!!!" Always headed for the B&B; easy to see how they would F with bridge and tunnel kids/jerks by watering down the beer. Summer shows were the best; a sweaty beery deal.

Anyone for chardonnay?

LOL. The best days back then. As long as you had the cash, waiters could give a crap if you were of age.

Love that Parker tune. WTF happened to the guy? He was great.

Phenomenal show. But my friend and I were crushed up near stage right. I really thought I would not make it out of there alive. Sure enough, we found out the next day that NYCFD closed them down because they over-booked the gig and there was like one exit for all hose people.

Aside from Clash, Blondie, Good rats, Pistols, Parker, Ian Hunter, Lou Reed, etc. etc. We would deviate a little and listen to ......

^All rockin' tunes, Apache. Reminds me of drinking with my buddies at our local bar. It had a phenomenal juke box.
