danny
Way to inject your politics into a legitimate question. The speech is going to be made prior to the game. There will be no overlap. |

You gotta admit, it's a pretty sad state of affairs when the President of the United States won't even THINK about giving a speech during a football game . . . |

This thread has been up for over 12 hours. So, off-topic posting is OK for the Landing Strip as long as it includes taking right-wing shots at the President.
A unionized public employee, a member of the Tea Party and a Big Corp CEO are sitting at a table. In the middle of the table there is a plate with a dozen cookies on it. The CEO reaches across and takes 11 cookies, looks at the tea partier and says, "Look out for that union guy, he wants a piece of your cookie.".
I have one for you - A union member a CEO and a TEA Party member are sitting at a table. The CEO pulls out a bag of cookies. He says you can each have a cookie if you screw in a lightbulb. The TEA Partier grabs a ladder and a lightbulb and gets to work. The Union man quickly says that his contract does not include hard labor and as such he will need to hire another man to get the ladder and position it. Unfortunately that means that for the same job the CEO would have to pay out two cookies, one for the union screwer one for the ladder mover. The CEO begins contemplating moving his screwing bulbs job to China. Then the union man says that before he changes his lightbulb he would like to discuss his defined benefits plan and healthcare. Meanwhile the Tea party member has finished changing all the bulbs. Then the government comes in and through its NLRB shuts down the CEO and his lightbulb changing business. Now the Union man, CEO and TEA Party member are all on unemployment. Thanks Barak. Last edited by chiefst2000; 09-07-2011 at 12:56 PM. |

NBC pregame will air on five channels during Obama speech Posted by Michael David Smith on September 7, 2011, 11:56 AM EDT While President Obama’s address to Congress airs on NBC before Thursday night’s Saints-Packers opener, five channels will air the pregame show. VERSUS, USA, Syfy, G4 and NFL Network will all begin coverage of the 90-minute NFL Kickoff 2011 Presented by EA Sports at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday. NBC will show Obama’s speech at 7 and then join NFL Kickoff 2011 in progress when the speech is over. The game starts at 8:30, and the White House says Obama’s speech will end well before kickoff. The 90-minute pregame show will feature musical performances as well as analysis from the usual cast of characters from Football Night in America and Sunday Night Football, including Bob Costas, Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth, Dan Patrick, Tony Dungy, Rodney Harrison, Peter King and PFT’s own Mike Florio. On Versus, NBC Sports Talk will air at 6 p.m. ET and serve as the lead-in to the pregame coverage. |

When will these idiot politicians ever learn? Airing a speech during the opening night of football, and the prospect of us not being able to see the pre-game or actual contest, is like taking away the daily grog ration on a Royal ship in the 1700s.

Obama could have spoken tonight, but Boner insisted that less than 22 Americans have to hear:
Perry pray for Rain Cain pray for Perry Santorum pray for the unborn forests murdered by Texas fires. Bachmann whine like Brady to the refs. Romney talk to me as though I'm a corporation Newt's Depends rippling..... We will probably only see Paul and Huntsman as they likely mute the audio feeds :D |
