Highest Paid...

CNN has a News Article today (Business section) on the top 10 Highest Paid Bank CEO's.

I thought it would be fun and perhaps enlightneing to compare them, men in charge of multi-billion dollar companies, responsible for trillions of our dollars and investments, and overseeing thousands of jobs, to our highest paid athletes (responsible for hitting a baseball, throwing a football, or in one case, driving a morotcyle) and actors (responsible for....acting 2-3 times per year).

In all fairness, he's been paying alimony since 1860.

And speaking as we have of late about Millionaires and Billionaires, I thought this list was a fun one too, our wealthiest Politicians (total value, top annual politicians was hard to find):

1 Michael Bloomberg Independent Mayor of New York City 2002-present $18.1 billion[1] 2011

2 Tom Golisano Independence Candidate for Governor of New York 1994, 1998 and 2002 $1.1 billion[2] 2002

3 Ronald Lauder Republican Candidate for Mayor of New York City 1989 $800 million

4 Arnold Schwarzenegger Republican Governor of California 2003-2011 $800 million[3]

5 Pete Coors Republican Candidate for US Senate from Colorado 2004 $750 million[4] 1997

6 Mitt Romney Republican Candidate for US Senator from Massachusetts, Governor of Massachusetts and candidate for US President 1994, 2003-2007, 2008 $500 million

7 Amo Houghton Republican Representative from New York 1987-2005 $475 million

8 Linda McMahon and family Republican Candidate for US Senator from Connecticut 2010 $335 million[5] 2010

9 Jon Corzine Democrat US Senator from New Jersey and Governor of New Jersey 2001-2006, 2006-2010 $300 million

10 Herb Kohl Democrat US Senator from Wisconsin 1989-present $216 million[6]

Not fair. Iffin you did that, poor Tiger Woods would only make 20 million more than Kobe Bryant. That would be truly saddening.

it used to be in the 1960s that 90 cents of every dollar made after 250k went to the US Gov't. and don't tell me that deductions and loopholes made people evade that tax. They paid it.

no one complained. Or if they did they did so privately. There was a debt from WWII, highways, universities and many other projects that made this country great and needed to be paid.

I don't particularly mind if the CEO makes 500x more than the janitor. I mind when he gets a tax cut. It's bad gov't.

250K in 1960 is equivalent to 2 mil today.

That said... there were a TON of deductions available then not available now , facts are facts. There were no rental loss limitations, passive rules, interest tracing rules and shall I go on? However....

I in fact support the "Buffet Tax". That is, a minimum tax on income over $1Million, not 250K.

in 1969 actually 1.4Mil in today's dollars. and that's fine. Put the 90% tax rate at every dollar over 1 or 1.4 or 2 million. I don't really care. We have a huge debt and spending cuts alone won't make up the shortfall.

So in your view, the State is morally obligated to take 90% of a man's income, to pay for Government, the vast majority of which is welfare in one form or another.

So in Bitland, the worker is entitled to control 10% of the results of his labor.

At least you're honest. Well, if you were being honest, I think you'd say 100%, but why quibble.

I'm curious, how much money would you be willing to onvest in a new business or project, if the Govt. took 90% of any income it generated?
