Best pizza in NY?

I have an acquaintance going to NY and wants to know the best pizza place. This being food central (as well as sex, liquor, photo shopping and gourmet feast central) I thought I would ask the best.

I'm just saying, for a chain I was COMPLETELY surprised and I left very satisfied. The crust was amazing. Don't knock it till you try it.

I forgot the name of the shop but it is on the southwest corner of 5th and 42nd Street about 2/3 stores in as you are walking towards Madison Avenue.

I ate at Applebees one time and thought the food was disgusting. That was in the mid 90s. I have never been back.

Di Fara Pizza on Avenue J in Brooklyn is the best pizza I ever had. I also like the trays from Spumoni Gardens on 86th street in Brooklyn.

As for the city, Lombardis on Spring St. and Artichoke Pizza on 14th street between 1st and 2nd,.

You really should give them a try.

Also, Dominoes has that new Times Square ticker about how great their pizza tastes. You should give that a shot too because it really is delicious!

Damn, I've lived in California for the past 20 years and I'd kill for even the worst NY pizza from a cockroach infested pizzeria in the south Bronx!!!

The Sicilian Pie.

Just cheese, no toppings required.

I lust for that pie to this very day.

I'll also make two other recommendations, NOT in New York:

If you're ever on vacation in Deep Creek Lake, MD, try: http://www.mountainstatebrewing.com/

And if you ever vacation at the Outer Banks, try: http://www.slicepizzeriaobx.com/

Two best Pizza's I've ever had the pleasure to consume outside the fine State of NY.
