Why do we continually misuse Revis?

Dont get me wrong, I think Rex Ryan is a top 5 defensive mind in the NFL. In my non objective opinion, I think Revis is not only the top corner in football, that is obvious, but also arguably the best defensive player in the sport. There are a few players who are close or on par like Ngata and Ware would be the 1st 2 that come to mind (Polamalu is the most overrated player in the sport).

With that being said, why not use him the right way? For example, in last week's game why should there be a single Patriots offensive snap where Revis is not guarding Welker? I understand that we play zone sometimes, but I saw a few at least a few occassions where we were playing man to man and Revis was on other receivers mainly Branch. The way to stop the best offensive teams is to take away their best offensive weapon and make an inferior player beat you. I remember one play in particular where the Patriots had only 1 wr on the snap and Wilson was covering Welker man to man and Revis was lined up all the way on the other side where there were no receivers and was essentially playing safety. This defenitely bothered me in the PITT games last year where we saw Wallace abuse Cromartie. I would much rather worry about Ward abusing cromartie then Wallace.

Yea, as a whole the Jets did a very good job on Welker, minus the Eric Smith blunder/lack of being good. But the Patriots first TD drive included a critical 30 yard or so pass to Welker and Revis was not on him? Why? I have seen this in some other games as well. Why should there be any offensive plays where Revis is not matched up with the other team's clear cut #1 receiver? The way he has been playing, its irrelevant who is he guarding. We saw him remove wr's from the game left and right including Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson(*2), TO (*2), Roddy White, Steve Smith, Randy Moss (*numerous times), Welker, Wayne (*2), Austin/Bryant. The list goes on and on.

Thoughts on this?
