Josh Baker

I really liked this UDFA pick. Considering he is from a small school, was undrafted and had little offseason work he has found himself active and on the field for most of the season (even though hes mostly on STs). The kid seems to have a great skill set. We need to get him more involved in the offense. I would love to see him being used more. He reminds me of a poor man's Chris Cooley/Dallas Clark.

Anyone else high on this kid?

the sooner he can take every single last one of Mulligan's snaps, the better.

I'd love to see a clip of that pass he caught from Sanchez last week. Checked YouTube and didn't find anything

Agreed. I saw the catch and was like 'who is that??'. Looked calm and collected - like a vet.

announced the signing back in the summer. Josh was Flaccos favorite target at Delaware in 07. Many people dont know that Josh was at UDel for 5 years until he went to NW Miss St for a 6th yr of eligibility. this kid is an athlete and playmaker. same mold and frame as dustin keller. dustin and him can exploit defenses if theyre on the field at the same time.

heres another clip: :)

Sorry about posting the attached thread but was the only way I could get the sequenced catch on here.

Reception from Flacco vs. Navy, sophomore year.

DITTO for me. He seems very poised and polished for an UDFA. Nice speed & hands at the TE position as well.

The Jets definitely had the intention of passing the ball out of a two TE set with Cumberland and Keller. Before Keller got hurt, you saw them dragging Cumberland underneath after Keller cleared out the LBs. Baker seems very able to take over that role and create mismatches with slower LBs. He definitely seems comfortable catching the ball.

We shouldn't allow ourselves to get TOO excited about Baker because guys like DDNY and Mikey D will come in and tell us "not to get too far ahead of ourselves" or that we have "magic t.v.'s" that allow us to see his potential.

Cumberland getting hurt is rarely mentioned in these parts. I really thought the guy had potential as a giant-sized receiving TE. Achilles injuries suck, but I hope he can come back healthy next year; if not, we desperately need a replacement via draft. I don't mind Mulligan as a #3 TE / ST player, but he should never be higher than that.

Put him on some more punt returns, with McKnight and Leonard out now.
