I would recommend Strongbow, Crispin, Windermere, Angry Orchard ginger. Also Redds Apple Ale is great as well but not considered a cider.

there are a lot of ciders out there that taste more like a crisp, white wine than apple cider. woodchuck at least tastes like cider. we have a local one here that tastes like an italian brut.

Same here.....the sweetness gets me after a few. I guess a few is all that is really good for ya anyhow, but you know......

I used to use wydmers cider, and st ives special brew to gain access to cho cha's on special occasions.

Really? Not much sweetness?

Even the ones listed as "dry"' often come off sweet to me. Again, sweet is good in moderation, bad thing is i lost the moderation part a decade or so ago.

Now i appreciate taste, but volume is also a consideration not to be overlooked.

Is that the 2000's version of a Wine Cooler?

j/k, I love a good cider. Generally go Woodchuck (mostly because it's common to find), but I like most of them, especially British-sourced Ciders.

6.9% cider ain't no regular cider.

No a big fan in general. probably since I've been assaulting my liver with Belgian ales for so long. Anything under 7% seems bland.

If you like cider, you can try Mort Subite (Sudden Death). It's beer with a pretty strong apple taste which ain't so bad.

Got down with this today, followed by some small batch bourbon, and a Heady Topper.
Pretty much blasted off over here...
But this Enjoy By was outstanding. Hopefully they keep it going.
They just throw all differnet ranges of hops at you. If you're a Heady Topper addict like me, you might wanna check this out before its gone.
Had it on draught, gotta get some more

Anyone have any good Porter recommendations?

I started getting into them recently. I spent a few years on an IPA fix, cooled off on them...then I went on a Belgian fix for a few years and have cooled off on them for about six months now.

Good ones I've had:

Highland (NC) - Oatmeal Porter
Foothills (NC) - People's Porter
Founders (MI) - Porter

I like to consider myself more intellectual than the average bear when it comes to beer, but I still have so much to learn.

I've heard/read a lot of good things about Smuttynose's brand, but I haven't even tried any one of their beers yet. I'm sure my place in the East Village has a few of these in stock.

Ballast Point also makes a great Imperial Porter
