Hu(g)e (J)ackson thread...(merged)
Reggie McKenzie is the new general manager of the Oakland Raiders and the word going around is that he may decide to let go of current Raiders coach, Hue Jackson. Despite the fact that both men share the same agent.
Back in 2009, There were strong indications that Rex Ryan would bring Hue Jackson in to be the Jets offensive coordinator. The two coaches worked together in Baltimore. This was before, Brian Schottenheimer was convinced to stay on as the Jets offensive coordinator after he lost out on the jets head coaching job. The delay in a decision of whether to retain Brian may play into their favor now that the possibility of Hue becoming available has come up. Jackson may very well be Ryan's first and preferred choice as his offensive coordinator. |

I like Hue Jackson as well as coach and personality. It would be an excellent hire in my opinion. If Hue Jackson were to be fired. It's possible that he would bring in Al Saunders along with him. I have always been a fan of Saunders and he was the Raiders OC and QB coach this past season. The question then would be who would coach the Jets offensive line. Perhaps this is where Tony Sparano could come in. Can he mesh with this staff? There are alot of different potential scenarios right now with the Jets offensive staff. This is a crucial area that needs to be addressed. If Hue were to come on board, It would not shock me if Jason Campbell were to sign with the Jets. Al Saunders has a history with Campbell dating back to his early years in Washington. Campbell knows the system and could push Sanchez. |

His first year he transformed that offense to a top 10 offense. This year losing his best Player(D Mcfadden ) and his starting QB( Jason Campbell after the sixth game . Not to mention Not having Jacoby Ford for most of the year. Yet they improved to 9th this year in offense. Raiders don't see the true benefit of Carson Palmer till 2012 season(when he has a whole off season to work in this offense. Hue Jackson going no where as long as Carson Palmer is the Raiders QB. (those two are joined at the hip) Carson Palmer easy a top five Qb in 2012 . This Raider offense has a chance to be one of the best offense in all of football. Hue Jackson didn't get his DC last year(Jets turn him down) and Bresnahan was forced on him by Al Davis. The defense non performance was a big reason they missed out on the playoffs this year. The question I think is will MCkenzie let Hue jackson pick his DC or will Mckenzie make that choice for him. |

I'm sorry, but what has the Oakland offense done in the last several years that would make this guy an attractive candidate.
Shotty needs to go, but the "anyone but him" approach is not the right mindset. |

I dunno. I want the next OC to have some kind of track record in successfully developing a QB. As much as it burns me, I realize we are probably locked into Sanchez for at least 2 more seasons. The Raiders QB situation makes ours look good. Maybe Sherman, but I feel he is looking for a HC job, not OC. |

I'm sure he could get a few interviews for HC, simply because he was one, but I'm not sure anyone sees him as a serious NFL HC candidate right now. |

...when he had a healthy #20. If they need stability in Oakland, then WTF? Get some players that have their heads on right. The coach is not the problem there. |

Just when you thought they might turn the corner (Al Davis passing away) they destroy their future by trading a 1st and 2nd round pick for a washed up QB veteran QB who couldnt even get them into the playoffs this season starting with a 6-2 record. |

+1! Last time I checked Scitty is still our OC. Let's dump him first before we name every possible OC candidate and speculate he will be a Jet |

The Raiders will have the last laugh on that Carson palmer trade., Without a doubt Carson Palmer will be a top five Qb again(there is nothing wrong with his arm. Carson Palmer makes a lot of his throws when the Wr just coming out of his break. If the timing off just a little off with the Wr it could be trouble(that why its paramount he, and The Wrs get on the same page this off season. Raiders ran about only five different routes with there WR corp.(rather limit what they ran) With a full off season together they will expand a lot more of the field and the routes. Here is Carson palmer stats last year 199 Completions attempts 328 completion % 60.7 Yards 2,753 8.4 average yard per pass 13 Td s and 16 Interceptions. Interceptions are alarming but IMO they decrease alot with another year in the system. (knows and trust his wr corps) Carson Palmer average yard per pass 8,4 is right up there with best but will go up alot more with a Healthy D Mcfadden at RB and jacoby Ford( Ford was Palmer go to WR before he got hurt) |

I got a Jim Plunkett vibe when the raider's landed Palmer. People don't realize how impressive it was for him to come to a team during the season and perform without the benefit of a training camp and months of practice to get in sync with his WR's. He has more weapons around him now than he has ever had in his pro career. Last edited by SONNY WERBLIN; 01-10-2012 at 09:17 AM. |
