He's not going anywhere. They're going to give him whatever he wants. As he should get whatever he wants.
Remember when the Jets had crap at corner? Now the Jets have the arguably the best ever cb in the game and people talking about trading him. He's a special player, no one is indispensable but the Jets are more flexible with his demans cause the dude is worth it. I could see the Jets making a push to retain him for a few more years as he is in the middle of his prime. |

In recent history? Only the three years after Glenn left prior to getting Law... They were serviceable after that, until drafting Revis... Nothing special though... |
No way do you trade your best defensive player and the best CB in the NFL for an unproven QB.
You might if you can get a ransom for him and you believe he will be leaving in 2 years. If the Jets grade RG3 as a significantly better prospect than Sanchez and they decided to trade Revis to get him I would be completely OK with that. I think the Jets chances of resigning him are almost 0, unless we horrendously overpay. |

The majority of you Jet fans are pathetic. There should be a psych test that we all have to take. There would be like 5,000 fans who fail and wouldn't be allowed to talk about football/jets.

Revis has already shown that he is not a man of his word and that his signature on a contract merans nothing if he subesequently wakes up one day and feels disrespected. That is the dilemma for Mike Tannenbaum. There is literally no contract that you could agree to with Darelle Revis that "locks him up" until he is 32 or 33.

Revis is the best at his spot. He can be beat and will be beat, but he is the best in his position. The only issue is that Revis eats up at least 10% of the teams cap space, this is usually used on the elite QB, aka Breese, Brady, Mannings and so on. Add in the fact that we are over paying Sanchez. Also over paying players that Rex and Tanny have placed way too much value on, this limits the Jets chances of signing better players. This is why the d can't pressure the qb without blitzing. The teams with arguably the two worst D's in the league last year were in the super bowl. Neither had a shutdown DB.
Houston spent the money that Revis or Namdi were asking and brought in multiple players and their D was lights out. I love having Revis here, but the issue is the rest of the d is just plain old slow. The front seven not including Harris are all second string type of players. They are also getting old in nfl years. Pouha is 33 years old and is considered under sized at his position, we all love the guy, but can the $$$ he's looking to get can be used to upgrade the D? The truth is that a shutdown DB will not win a super bowl. A balanced d will win it. Oh yeah, He's going to want crazy $$$ next time. Trade him for picks and build a better d all around. What do the Jets do when he starts getting hurt? He's not getting any younger. Last edited by srobjets; 02-29-2012 at 09:00 AM. |

CB's do not win Super Bowls, QB's do. |

Ummmm... That's why he has a 'no holdout' clause in his current contract... His contract can be either 4 years or 7 years... His choice... You do the last one the same way and cut bait after 4... |

LOL. Do you really think that will make him come to camp if he isn't happy? Come on man. What is going to happen? He is going to lose some money if he holds out. He already showed that he is willing to sacrifice an entire season to get the money he wants. Unless the "holdout clause" adds a year to his contract at the league minimum for every day he holds out, I don't think there is much they can do to make him show up. |

That was the whole game the last time around. We could have and maybe even did fine him but the repayment of those fines was factored into the eventual settlement anyway so the fines were meaningless. |

this is an interesting dilemma. we have here arguably the top 3 player ever step into a jets uniform. he is a shutdown corner who makes te job easier for rest of the def. I think with above average safety player and a pass rusher. this def can be a great one.
I think if team is in shambles 2 seasons from now then it is plausible to trade revis and get whatever picks you can accumulate. till then we have to keep him. he still has a good 5 elite years left in him before he becomes only a good player. |

What's more important, having a franchise QB for the next 10+ years or gloating about having the "best CB in the league" while treading water with Sanchez or some other mediocre QB? Both Luck and RG3 are elite prospects. If we traded up for Griffin and he pans out, then he'd help this team a helluva lot more than Revis would over the next decade. |

I think Sanchez needs an opportunity before trading revis or whomever for a top pick. 2nd you are crazy if rams are willjng to trade a top pick in return for a cb making an outrageous salary. revis stays and he gets signed to a similar contract as he signed. |

Jets may have one of the best CBs in NFL history with a supposed defensive mastermind and seem to be moving further from a championship.
Revis has shown he wants every nickel and will hold out to get it....no doubt in my mind it wil increase. |

Can we afford to trade away Revis and be wrong?
Does it really kill us to get rid of Revis while we can get something in return? How many championships did Champ Bailey help bring to Washington or Denver? This is the NFL, and QB trumps all. If you don't already have an elite QB, then you're always searching for one. |

The problem with Him is your not going to get equal value back in a trade. No team is giving up a lot to get him and than paying that large salary he will command. Your almost forced to keep him, or settle for a lot less than he worth. It the same reason you hardly saw anyone wanting to trade up for the first and second pick in draft(was just too expensive0 Now that the contract a lot more reasonable that high draft choice is a lot more appealing to teams.
Revis isn't worth the money. The Giants and the Pats don't have great CBs and they went to the SB having 20% of your salary cap tied up in Revis and cromartie makes no sense A CB is only good as the pass rush. Fans on this board let their love for a player overpower common sense. Best thing the jets could do is trade Revis for multiple picks and rebuild this team so we can compete for a title. Instead we will watch another year of Revise and no title so fan can go gaga over a self absorb me guy.
Something I've been saying for years..;) Deion Sanders was on 5 different teams in his career.. Holdout Harry won't be on that many because he already has made more then Deion did in his career.. |

Revis is probably the best player to ever put on a Jets uniform but if he wants more than what he is already making then trade him for kings ransom. Team is more important then an individual player and if he can net the team a 1st round nd a quality starter I'd do it ohm a heartbeat but that's only if he can't be resigned to a manageable number

Prospective buyers are unlikely to send us a kings ransom in picks or players if they know that they will also have to give Revis a king's ransom contract money. What team is seriously going to lock in 15% of their ENTIRE salary cap into one single player? What team is going to be that stupid? |
