Did you notice how bad his supporting cast in Indy was? |

But the Pats were cheating for half those games. So lets not count that. |
QBs are coming into the league right now and showing that they can start performing immediately. Guys like Dalton and Cam, and Stafford have become pro-bowlers and turned their teams around almost overnight. I think the days of picking a QB to hold a clipboard for a few years or waiting for him to develop over the course of a long period of time are over.
With the rookie wage scale gone, teams without solid QBs should be drafting them as high as possible, giving them a couple of years to see what they have, and dumping them if they don't turn out to be "the guy." Rinse, repeat until you've got a bona fide franchise QB. Teams can't afford to waste 5+ years on a guy who isn't getting it done.
The clipboard worked out pretty well for Aaron Rogers. Drew Brees was not an overnight success. There is no one developmental path for QBs. Last edited by EM31; 03-06-2012 at 04:12 PM. |
in AFCE Manning is dealing with Brady for the rest of his career.
So? Why is that seen as a reason why Peyton wouldn't want to come here? If anything, I think it would be a huge draw. By all accounts, Peyton Manning is one of the fiercest competitors the game has ever seen. I think he would relish the chance to face Brady/Belichick at least twice a year. It's always been a tossup as to who the best QB in the league is. Is it Brady or is it Manning? Hypothetically speaking, what if Manning was to come to the Jets and win a Superbowl within the next 3 years? He would leap ahead of Brady in many peoples eyes. Hell, he may even be hailed as the GOAT. |

The three other teams need more than a QB, so not greatly.

Drew Brees was not an overnight success. There is no one developmental path fro QBs.
For Jet fans there is. Elite by year 3 or you're out. Let's not even give him year 4. Can't wait to see Sanchez in year 6, 7 and 8 win back-to-back-to-back SBs with the Cards or the Redskins. _ |

NE actually had a defense in those games. Orvlosky tossd for 350 on NE. A healthy Manning with Marshall would shred that d apart. |
Huh? You don't think Miami with a healthy Manning could compete with the Pats? How can you possibly view this thread as trolling?
jeesh, chill.
Miami is a 10 win team for sure with Manning. Patriots are still going to with 12+ games every year until Brady retires. Winning the division by 2+ games is not a race. The race will be for the Wild Card, as usual. |

Please, the Pats were up 31-3 with 17 minutes left in the game. 300 of those yards came in garbage time when the game was already over. |

Drew Brees was not an overnight success. There is no one developmental path fro QBs.
Those are some of the notable exceptions. Also, the Packers would have started Rodgers years earlier if Favre hadn't reneged on his retirement plans. I just happened to work out in the end. Certainly there are different ways to go about it, but with QBs being so cheap to draft now and so many immediately becoming impact players, teams don't have to be as patient with finding a franchise guy anymore. And getting one is important enough that it's worth it to keep trying. Last edited by ASG0531; 03-06-2012 at 04:05 PM. |
So...now Andy Dalton is a sure fire franchise QB?
Elite by year 2? No chance he slips back next year? _
I never said he was elite. But he was in the Pro Bowl, and had a solid rookie season. If he slips, and never gets back to that level, then dump him and try again. The Panthers could have given Clausen more time to develop and gone non-QB with their #1 pick. They're pretty glad they didn't. |

Great analogy. The NFL is a "win now" league, not a wait 5 or 6 years to win. |
So what you are saying is--NEXT YEAR he needs to be at 30 TDs (passing and rushing), 10 INTs and 2 fumbles or you dump him?
You don't want to see him progress and become a top QB in year 5 or 6--it's GOT to happen immediately THIS YEAR. He NEEDS to be a top 5 QB THIS YEAR or he's gone. Steady improvement and playoffs don't cut it. Got it. _
LOL. You take a lot of liberties sir. He was at 30+ TDs this year. So to expect him to be there next year is well within reason. 30 TDs would technically be "regression". Yes, he must show a significant decline in the number of Turnovers. Asking that in year 4 is not unreasonable. 12-15 turnovers max. I do not think that is unreasonable. I don't expect him to be a Top 5 QB EVER, so I would not expect him to be one this year. What I expect is for him to become a leader. Stop playing the skin-flute with Keller. Re-acquaint himself with Holmes. And if issues arise, deal with them like a man. Grab a hold of this team by its neck. Stop making rookie mistakes. And stop with the theatrics after getting hit. Yes, he has taken a beating but nobody has perfected "the limp" better than Sanchez has. |

The NFL is a "win now" league, not a wait 5 or 6 years to win.
So, after 2 trips deep into the playoffs with a kid, we should have dumped Sanchez. Because that's what some here wanted and were positively giddy he had an awful year in 2011. Again, if he play really well next year and makes it to the playoffs, but we don't win the whole shebang--we dump him, right? _ |

Stop making rookie mistakes.
My favorite anti-Sanchez attack. His INTs are worse than anyone's in the leagues. _ |
