RIP Levon. Such incredible music was made by the Band.

I was hoping that the premature thread would somehow promote a miraculous recovery. RIP. :(

In addition to his music, I loved catching him in seemingly random spots in movies.

He was great in his small role in Shooter.

We'll miss you Levon.

R.I.P Levon Helm

Passed away yesterday. Probably already jamming with Richard Manuel and Rick Danko in the pearly gates. You are missed already.

His "drumming" was pedestrian, at best.

At the worst, it sounded like my 2 year old hitting the bottom of a Rubbermaid container.

Elton and Bernie actually took the name for that song from Levon Helm.

Was lucky enough to attend a few Midnight Rambles. Met Levon, and beyond his outstanding and everlasting impact to music, he was an absolute sweetheart of a man.

RIP.

If you think Levon Helm's contibution to music and The Band was his drumming, then your understanding of music and it's history is " pedestrian" at best. Get a clue, pal.

Never made it to a Midnight Ramble :( But I was fortunate enough to have seen the The Band (post Robbie Robertson) several times and I caught Levon at the Beacon a few years ago - OUTSTANDING show.

You've posted some absurd things on here before, but this one is upper echelon absurdity.

He probably should have put the sticks down and concentrated on something he was actually good at. Like giving bands really crappy names.[/QUOTE]

Is this really the appropriate thread to be discussing Levon's musical merits?
