HELP! Need advice from lawyer, ethicist...or mailman.

So I keep getting a magazine delivered to my office that's not for me.

I told Cliff Clavin its not mine, he seems intent on ignoring me.

Am I under any legal or moral obligation to rectify this situation?

Or should I just enjoy said magazine.

Thoughts?

As a lawyer, I will tell you that you can keep said magazine.

As a reasonably skeptical adult, I will tell you you are somehow paying for it. Something you, the wife, the kids ordered, something you (or they) signed up for and you inadvertantly agreed to (it's not alway obvious)--they are banging your card every year for that magazine.

Nothing free here.

Enjoy your paid-for "O" magazine.

I got the impression from his original post that the magazine is not addressed to him, it is addressed to someone else.

If this is the case, then opening the magazine is a clear violation of Federal law, and violators shold be punished accordingly.

Barrister,

The label clearly indicates said magazine is mean for someone down the street. Business name is slightly similar, but address is way off.

Clavin continues to ignore my protests.

Oh, then I think it's your obligation to hand deliver it to them.

I'm an ethicist. Let me know if you still have questions after reading the answers above. I'll try to help...for a fee.

I had a summer job as a mailman when I was in college, so I guess I'm an expert. This seems pretty black and white to me. There are rules. They exist for a reason. Follow them or suffer the consequences. I can't exactly tell you what the rules are, but we all know, don't we? :D
