For the last time NO RISK -HIGH REWARD!!! What's the risk? He'll come cheap.
The risk is the young guys like Hill and Kerley get significantly less playing time and never develop. If we didn't draft Hill in round 2 I'd be all for signing Braylon. The fact that nobody has signed him yet has to be a major red flag.

This is where I lose the train of thought from those of you who keep saying this.

Why would anyone sign him now or in the past few months if he's not healthy and is still rehabbing?

And I doubt Edwards' agent would allow him to sign a non-guaranteed deal where he could get cut at any time with nothing to show for it. I imagine his agent would prefer to wait until Edwards is 100% and then have him work out for a few teams before considering any deal.
woah hold on there. Never said Kerley was the second coming of Rice, And no one wants Tone to be triple covered. It seems everyone that wants BE back is because he blocks well, can blow the top off Ds, and has chemistry w/ MS. Take a look at this, BE is coming off a knee injury, did he lose a step? Wasn't used much, in a WR starved SF. No one else wants him even now. He had one solid year with out the dropsies. As far as chemistry, he's been out of the system for a year. We have 2 if not 3 WRs on staff that can do two of BEs 3 assets as well if not better (block and run fast). They are young and provide a longer timeline of effectiveness. So basically they need to get on the same page as MS and we have as good, if not better options. Not to mention it has nothing to do with our assessments, the FO DOESN'T WANT HIM. So, please, don't try to belittle my opinion by putting words in my mouth. I know it's an oft used tactic on this board, but that doesn't make it anymore viable.
I never said that you thought Kerley was the 2nd coming of Jerry Rice. I said you might, along with a handful of other people on this board. Kerley is the most frequent example on this board of blind homerism, but I never said that you explicitly stated that he was yourself.

In terms of a longer timeline of effectiveness, to have that longer timeline you actually have to effective. If the Jets signed a 20 year old high school athlete who never played football before, I guess that provides a longer timeline of effectiveness strictly based on his young age. If the Jets did sign a guy like that, not sure it would be any worse than Schilens.

As far as the FO not wanting him, that simply is not true. They already stated that they are interested, and like every other team wouldn't be interested until they know full well he is on schedule in his rehab. If his rehab is not going well, then I dont think you would find even the biggest BE supporters saying we should bring him back.

As far as the 49ers not using him, maybe they didnt know how to use him. Or maybe they lost the NFCG because their QB completed a total of 3 passes for 39 yards to their receivers.

Kerley is the slot guy. Kerley has nothing to do with the outside. Hill is an unproven 2nd rounder, coming from an option offense at Georgia Tech. What else is Tanny planning on doing with the cap space?

All i know was that Braylon was coming off a good year with the Jets, was healthy and he barely got any interest. Now he is coming off a major surgery and when he was healthy he barely produced. Now the argument is that the Niners didn't know how to use him? He is a WR, teams shouldn't have to figure out how to use him at this point.

The fact is that Braylon fits the Jets system but we now have a younger faster version of him on our roster and wasted a 2nd round pick on it. Braylon won't come here to be our number 4 WR.

All WRs barely produce with Alex Smith throwing the football. Check the NFCCG

I don't put a lot of weight on Edwards time in SF. He was injured in September and was never really healthy. Besides, SF already had a #1 and a #2 in Crabtree and Morgan. So whatever the stats are from last year mean zero.

The question becomes whether or not he can be 100% this season. If he can, I think he should be considered.

Yes, Hill was drafted to be the #2 WR. But do the Jets realistically expect him to step into that role in 2012 coming out of an option program that didn't rely a lot on their WR's? It may take him a while to transition to the NFL game and being a #2. There's no guarantee with him for 2012.
