MB is great. No doubt. But best ever no. he holds many records , many based on longevity but most lists have him not in the top 4 or 5.

Gabby actually got more involved physically yesterday. But he's still a wimp.

I don't like Brodeur as a person but any list that doesn't have him top 5, if not top 3, is nuts. Granted, he's been the beneficiary of top defensive teams but he still gets the nod.

Thought this was worth quoting.
By the way, no one responded to my post the other day commenting on how the Devils starting using pick plays in game 2, especially on the PP. Beady-eyed's goal came off of one. They did it again yesterday. That's BS. |

Dryden was an unbelievable goalie. Out of Cornell.... he played only a few years and left on his own accord to practice law. Sort of like a Barry Sanders. Left on top, plenty of gas in the tank. Was TRULY a step above all others for a 7 year period. He won 6 Stanley Cups. From Wiki...below. Compared to most other goaltending greats (and Hockey Hall of Fame players), Dryden's NHL career was extremely short: just over seven full seasons. Therefore, statistically he did not amass record totals in most categories. As he played all his years with a dynasty and retired before he could pass his prime, his statistical percentages are unparalleled. His regular season totals include a .790 winning percentage, a 2.24 goals against average, and, most incredibly, winning 258 games and losing only 57 games while recording 46 shutouts in just 397 NHL games. No other modern goaltender has ever been even remotely close to earning nearly as many shutouts as recording losing games. He won the Vezina Trophy five times for allowing the fewest goals and in the same years was selected as a First Team All-Star. Despite the comparative brevity of his career, in 1998, he was ranked number 25 on The Hockey News' list of the 100 Greatest Hockey Players. |
