Not ideal, but certainly could've been worse . . .

I assume with good behavior he'll be out before camp. Sucks he'll miss OTAs though.

He had to take that deal even if he was 100% innocent, no brainer.

100% correct. Deportation was a cloud hanging over him, and it definitely cost him a lot of $$$ in the draft. Great news for the player and the Jets that this is resolved. |

I doubt he'll serve all 90 days -- I definitley expect him out in time for camp. Last edited by Austin; 05-17-2012 at 04:28 PM. |

This is great news. Get it over and done with and move the eff on. Hopefully Ellis' head will be clear from here on out and he can begin climbing the depth chart.

I think he will serve it now and hopefully get time off for good behavior (if that's available). |

Now we have to see if the alleged victim will pursue a civil case.

Typically most courts will offer pro athletes a suspended sentence that he can serve probably next Feb-Apr. I doubt he serves anything this offseason.

I have to believe there was some merit to the State's case.

He was sentenced to six months. Under Virginia law it will become 90 days with good behavior. But he may be credited time served. |
Ellis will plead guilty to assault and battery, a misdemeanor charge. That plea will come with six months of active jail time, but per Virginia law, he will only have to serve half, i.e. 90 days in jail. He could also receive credit for time served.
Interested to see how much is knocked off.

Who cares at this point? From a football perspective I could care less. From a TMZ perspective i suppose it still matters. |
