There's a live recording of Send in the Clowns Sinatra did when he was older -- probably in the mid to late 1980s. His voice is rough and his age comes through, and it is just gut wrenchingly sad. I'll see if I can find it, sometimes it shows up on youtube.

Not sure what is sadder in that clip, The Chairman's failing voice or the song itself. My choice for saddest ever..... |
Love me some peanuts. Had a dog named Snoopy and would play the, "snoooooopy, snoooooopy, come home snoopy come home" and he'd scour the house to see who was calling him.
Other favs are Your a Good Sport CB(I grew up racing mx so naturally) and the raft race one which I forget the name. SCHUUUUUULLLLTTZZ!
Race for your Life Charlie Brown. Remembered it (I was 70) but did hav eto look up the name. Did remember that they were at camp. And no respect to the other songs posted but I still feel mine is sadder. :D Besides, if you didn't know that the Clapton song was in reference to his own terrible tragedy, it wouldn't even register. Hell, I can do a few better. |

I guess his kid falling to his death doesn't count for anything. |

I think his point is that he capitalized and profited off his own tragedy. Silly observation -- we all handle grief in our own ways and it's obviously a touching tribute. |
