Sorry About Your Son....Here is the Bill
Mom given bill to clean street after son killed by illegal immigrant driving drunk

GREENVILLE, SC – A grieving mother told a South Carolina court she was slapped with several bills, including one to clean the street after her son was killed by a drunken driver last year.

Loretta Robinson spoke on June 19 of the emotional and financial toll her son Justin Walker's death had on her as the driver Anna Gonzales, who is an illegal immigrant, pleaded guilty in the case.

Robinson told the judge she has been unable to work due to the emotional impact of her son's death, and can't pay the bills she keeps receiving from the accident even though her son was not at fault, WYFF reports.

"I had to pay to have the vehicle towed," she said according to WYFF. "I had to pay for the vehicle removed and to clean up the street from Justin's blood on the ground."

Robinson said the $50 bill to clean the street stung the most.

"First of all, having to open the mail and look at the charge to the deceased, Justin Darryl Walker -- the deceased! It's just a hard thing to deal with in the context of your child," she said according to WYFF.

Robinson says she doesn't expect to get any money from Gonzales. The state's victim assistance fund has provided some money, but it primarily covers funeral, medical and counseling expenses.

Gonzales, an illegal immigrant who didn't have a South Carolina driver's license, was sentenced to 17 years in prison.

Hopefully she gets killed in a fatal prison catfight early in her sentence.

"Anna Gonzales, who is an illegal immigrant"
No doubt a "valedictorian" who is "just here to work" and was "brought here through no fault of her own"

I wonder how many kids of hers we're on the hook for, as no doubt, they're "American citizens"
The last 6Houston Police Officers killed on duty since 2006 have been killed by illegals.

There is no room for common sense in government.

None. Zero. Zilch.

And illegal criminal immigrant Anna Gonzalez will continue to cost taxpayer money as she sits in jail for 17 years.

DEPORT HER! SHE KILLED SOMEONE AND SHES NOT A CITIZEN! Why is this such a ridiculous concept?!? She shouldn't even have been driving in the first place.

How does justice get served in this case? She'll be deported back to her country of origin and become a free woman. Unfortunately, this is the only way to make sure her crimes don't go unpunished.

The Federal Govt. bears some liabillity IMO due to non-enforcement of Law.

Had the Law been enforced, she would not be here. If she were not here, she would not have killed an American Citizen.

I'm sure we all like to think of illegals as wonderful people just desperate for a chance to contribute.....but the reality is for every great heartwarming story of such a case, we can show a case just like this or much, much worse.

This is why we have Laws. When we choose to ignore Law for political preferences or convenient vote-getting, it's the citizens who are the victims in the end.

This person should never have been in the States to begin with. Anyone who had a hand in allowing it to happen bears the moral burden of this wrongful death.

What I'd love to see is every victim of crime committed by an illegal immigrant joining in a Class Action lawsuit against the U.S. Federal Govt. I doubt they'd win, but it'd be worth seeing.

To answer your question, justice can never be served in this case. 17 years in Prison in the states on the Taxpayers dime is still better than wherever it is she came from. She still wins, even as she loses. But we, the citizens, lose all around.

The U.S. deported nearly 393,000 people in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, half of whom were considered criminals. Of those, 27,635 had been arrested for drunken driving, more than double the 10,851 deported after drunken driving arrests in 2008, the last full year of the Bush administration, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement data provided to The Associated Press.

An additional 13,028 were deported last year after being arrested on less serious traffic law violations, nearly three times the 4,527 traffic offenders deported two years earlier, according to the data.

87,547 had been convicted of either homicide, sexual offenses, drug-related crimes or driving under the influence. This is only about 40 percent of the total number of criminal deportations.

19.6 percent of detainees were repeat immigration violators, and 11.6 percent were border removals. Border Patrol apprehensions and prosecutions for illegal re-entry have dropped dramatically in the past five years, from 1,089,092 in 2006 to 463,382 in 2010. While not all Border Patrol apprehensions result in ICE removals, observers suggest that it’s fair to assume a corresponding decline. The increase in overall deportation numbers suggests that ICE is relying more on “interior” enforcement to meet its goal, mandated by Congress, of 400,000 deportations per year.
