Pity. A talented guy, but he just couldn't get healthy enough to get onto the field. You can't make the roster in the hot-tub.

Hopefully he has enough time to rehab and be picked up by another time.

You know what's interesting about this?

Everyone expects the Jets to "ground and pound". Let's review the evidence:

TEs on the roster:

Dustin Keller
Jeff Cumberland (not a blocking TE - big receiving TE - can actually be better than Keller in that regards)
Dedrick Epps
Hayden Smith

Upgrades to O-line: None.

RBs: Greene and McKnight (unproven).

So, we're going to ground and pound, but have not added players that significantly help that philosophy?

Not likely. The entire offense will depend on how Sanchez plays. Plain and simple.

Anyway, we need a blocking TE.

There's more evidence that we're NOT going to go completely ground and pound than there is that we will, except for Tebow, and perhaps Hill in the running offense he came from (he's an excellent blocking WR).

You COULD say that the Dolphins ran the ball and passed the ball about the same (close to 50% last season), and that's how we'll run our team as well.

I just don't get the G&P vibe.

Wow, finally someone who understands the absurdity of ground and pound with this group. And spot on--its all about how Sanchez passes the ball.

We still need a blocking TE. Cumberland can actually be better than Keller, IMO.

Wasn't Linthicum injured?

Either they will sign another TE or they will re-sign him later this summer.

Is George Bryan still out there?

It's a process.

He's listed as 4th string right now behind Dedrick Epps .

Yes, Bryan is still out there. Kind of surprised the Jets haven't brought him on board.

Rookie Tarren Lloyd is also on the roster. A good blocker at the college level, where he blocked for Robert Turbin and Michael Smith and the highly productive Utah State ground game.

Hopefully, one of Llloyd or Hayden Smith can emerge as a blocking option, but I'd personally also like to see George Bryan (or another big blocking type) brought in to add competition in pre-season.

Here's hoping that GS3 under center, and Coples on the edge works out.
