He also said to a reporter the next day, what the hell was that offense the Jets were playing? I've never seen anything like it. As per ESPN radio earlier today.

While some might think it "odd" that Rex honored the request, there are times to be friendly with opponents and there are times to build up goodwill. Being a d'ckhead 24/7 will bite you in the A's. Since the Jets really don't want teams to get a lot of film of the Tebow/Wildcat, it was an easy request to honor.

Someday, Rex is going to need a favor from Lewis or to do a trade with the Bungles. When that happens, it is good to have people who respect you to work with.
Rex & Marvin are also good friends who worked together on the Ravens defensive staff years ago, so for that reason, along with a couple of other reasons some have pointed out here, it's not hard to see why Rex honored his request.

You're going to be seeing a lot more of those style offenses this year and in the future in the NFL, so you might as well get used to it

In other words, the wildcat is perceived as a big aspect of the Jets offensive success.

That's not very comforting.

So just how do you defend against the wildcat? Blitz? The power I see is not in running the wildcat, but getting the D to respond to the threat and then exploiting the weaknesses in thier response. Whatever they may be.
