Most pick 6's in NFL History??
Since it seems to be a big concern here are the QB's..

Four former Jets in the top 21 and Sanchez on track to be top five!

A few things stand out.
Namath has very few attempts compared to the top players, and is 3rd all time according to PFR. Sanchez is not on the list. Brady has over 4000 attempts, and is on the bottom of the list. It's a testament to him. The longer you play, more of these you will have. |

![]() -The list was compiled in 2009. -Sanchez has probably thrown around 10 pick sixes and he is just entering his fourth year. |

Come on internet, please tell us how many times Sanchez has thrown a pick six! Don't make me go through every game center.

Maybe it is a Jets issue.
BTW Sanchez isn't on the list but I think he has 10 or 11. |

All the greats are on the list which proves what I've always said, if you aren't getting intercepted you aren't taking risks and will never be great.

Obviously not all pick 6s are entirely the QBs fault but it is a very strange statistic. I think two last year (Keller against SD and Holmes against Philly) were not his fault at all. Not sure if the Keller one was ruled a fumble or INT. I would love if somebody could find out the exact number and what games they were in. I think I might be including a fumble so it might be less than 10. Last edited by DDNYjets; 08-19-2012 at 06:58 PM. |

3 Pick Sixes in 2009
1. Week 1 @ Texans (win) *int, fumble recovery, TD. I'm counting it! 2. Week 4 @ Saints (loss) 3. Week 11 @ Patriots (loss) 0 Pick Sixes in 2010 I've run out of steam. 2012 stats will have to wait until later. Last edited by jxc; 08-19-2012 at 07:09 PM. |

I think he had 6 last season. So we are at 8 or 9? Did you include playoffs?
Still too many but not as bad as I thought. |

For a QB, why is a pick 6 worse than any other pick? It's a stat that says the Offense sucks at tackling, not that the QB is worse than for any other interception.

http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/team...ts?season=2011 So, excluding playoffs we're at 5, right? It seems like more because of the fumbles. When he was getting sacked and stuff. Because, well, you know. |

Edit: You sir are correct. Ravens, Pats, Broncos. Holmes v. Philly was a fumble. So was Keller v. SD. They were both on passes. So the official number is 6 for the career. Maybe that is why I thought he had 6 last season, mistaken total number for year number. Last edited by DDNYjets; 08-19-2012 at 07:59 PM. |

Pick 6's, or TAINTs as Bill Simmons refers to them, are a product of where on the field an INT occurse. A throw from the 5 yard line that gets picked off in the endzone has a good chance of getting run back 100 yards for a TD. Same goes for an INT inside your own 15 yard line or so.
Then there are the INTs that result when the DB jumps a shallow out or a curl pattern. INTs in the middle of the field (in both senses: between the hashes and between the 30s) don't generally get run back for TDs. |

I was probably going to expand "pick six" into "handing the other team 6 points" since 2011 had Sanchez coughing up a few fumbles for touchdowns. But I'm giving up the cause now that everyone seems to be ganging up on Sanchez. I don't like feeling like I'm preaching to the choir, but fighting for an unpopular cause makes me feel warm and special inside.
