Bills release Shawn Merriman

Per Rotoworld.

Shawne Merriman - DL - Bills Bills released DE Shawne Merriman.
The broken-down Merriman has proven to be a shell of his former "Lights Out" self. During the last two seasons, he's appeared in just 12 games and managed one sack while noticeably lacking explosion. Even though the Bills already paid him a $1 million roster bonus earlier this year, they save $4 million in base salary by moving on now. Merriman, 28, has time to latch on as a pass-rushing flier with a team that runs a 3-4 base.

I know we need to be looking for a RT, but is this guy worth a look ?

Stick a fork in this guy he's done... and has been for quite some time. That said hook him up to an IV with some Melky 'roids and let's get him back up to speed.

He's played 250 snaps the past 2 years, and badly. He's likely out of the NFL.

As a 3-4 OLB he was still the best Buff had. He was still getting pressure just was the only one in Buff at the time that could. Well worth it for us IMO. He has to be a step up from guys like Sapp or Pace. Just look at what we did with Maybin. Low risk with a pretty good reward IMO.

Merriman is nothing without his supply of HGH, and hasn't proven otherwise since then.

Pass.

The focus of the FO should be on RT this week.

We should only sign him to a contract that stipulates he goes back on the juice.

So after he clears waivers you need to give them a draft pick???? Please explain that new rule to me.

He shouldn't even be on waivers if he was released.

My apology, I was being sarcastic...my point being, chasing OLDER players is why we SUCK today. I really dont feel strongly one way or the other but I dont see how he can help us. Can he play O- line?

Be thankful that he's the reason we have Maybin and that's about it. The Bills cut Maybin to keep Merriman and we have reaped the rewards. If you can somehow get him back on the juice...which I believe is more of a reason for his downfall than the injuries, go ahead and sign him.

I never endorsed the idea...But is rickey sapp or mcintire better than him? Maybe maybe not, if we can bring him with no guarntee money it may be worth a shot.
