I would prefer and would have hoped that Tannenbaum would have realized the need for that anyway and have a healthy Baker.

If it takes an injury for him to make an obvious move, he's not the right man for the job.

I think part of the problem is the coaching staff who believe they can "coach up" anyone on the roster. I'm sure they thought that they could turn Baker/Cumberland into a legit blocker.

I like that they're all very confident in their abilities but at some point you just have to come clean and say "this guy can/can't do it."

the silver lining is that this allows us to keep Baker (albeit on IR) for one more year, we might want him to stick around if Keller is not re-signed.

How does that work when a player is IR'd?

Does it extend his contract, is he a UFA or a RFA?

I think Baker is only signed through 2012.

no clue.

what I meant is that if he's on IR he's still part of the Jets this year and we would probably be in the best position to retain him for next season.

Baker's agent RT @HowardShatsky Until results of the mri are received there is nothing further to report on Josh Baker's injury.

The pats are loaded at TE so they would be a team to look at.

Although knowing BB, he'll wait until the last possible second to cut a player that he thinks the Jets could use.

This. But in all likely hood you will continue to see him just move bad RB, OLB, WR, or OL there. Honestly would it shock you to see him line Turner up at TE?

I haven't watched him closely but I assume he's a "project" if he makes it. There will probably be better to hit the waver wire.

Not true. That kid EPPS can block as well as catch. They also have Tarren Lloyd. He is a very good blocking TE. The sky is not falling! We will overcome!

phew. for a moment there, with cumberland out with a concussion and josh baker out for the year and keller coming up lame with tight hammy and john connor sucking, i thought the jets had no FBs, H-backs or TEs. it's a good thing they have these super subs in epps and lloyd to pick up where these guys left off.

I watched epps have a ball literally bounce off his hands. I think they might be made of stone. He also looks like he's 5'3". Lloyd?! Has he even been in a game? These guys aren't going to be on the 53, I would be surprised if one of em are gone by today.

Can someone explain to me how that was not a cheap shot? The whole "that's football" argument doesn't apply here IMO

Do they know the extent of Keller's injury? Is he going to miss any time?
