Loved him in the draft. I'd take him over White, probably over Turner too. Jets apparently liked him, so let's see.

Danny Coale, a wide receiver out of Virginia Tech whom the Cowboys took with their fifth-round selection, No. 152 overall, will be released. Coale has been slowed by a broken foot this year and never made his mark in the Cowboys’ offense.

The Cowboys have reportedly informed most of the players who won’t make their 53-man roster that they have been cut, and although the team hasn’t announced all the players who will be released, another player reportedly being let go in Dallas is undrafted free agent guard Ronald Leary, whom Cowboys owner Jerry Jones liked so much that he guaranteed him $214,000 in signing bonus and base salary — much more money than undrafted free agents usually receive in guarantees.

Other players reportedly cut by the Cowboys include defensive end Clifton Geathers, defensive tackle Ben Bass, outside linebacker Adrian Hamilton, offensive tackle Pat McQuistan, guard Daniel Loper, center Harland Gunn, offensive tackle Jeff Adams, quarterback Rudy Carpenter, fullback Shaun Chapas and linebacker Orie Lemon.

Any ideas on what the issue was?

I think you're confusing him with Cole Beasley.

I'd still bring him in though. Our receiving corps is pretty damn awful outside of Holmes.

I like this kid a lot, good potential out of the slot, had great college stats.

I believe the issue was mostly related to injury in Dallas.

Question: can we sign him immediately to the PS, or do teams get a shot to claim him for active roster first?

I think you're confusing him with Cole Beasley.

I think you are right. There is no way the cowboys would cut the guy i saw in the preseason. He was chrebet like.

coale was a very productive receiver in college... probably worth a 4th or 5th round pick. very reliable route runner with great hands 4.5 speed. I'd pick him up in a second for the jets

True, they also do not need another slot guy. They need a vet who can play outside and take some of the pressure off Hill and can step in to replace Holmes if he goes down again.
