Jets Tweets - Sunday 9/2

Conor Orr ‏@ConorTOrr
Tannenbaum really talking about Harrison this morning, saying earned his spot on active roster and the "scouting staff celebrates" over it.

Didn't touch on Allen specifically, touched on the aspect that it's not just about the draft picks, it's about the entire roster, irrespective of how the players were obtained, they always strive to find the best players, and keep the best players, the players that fit the roster. The book isn't closed on any player released.

He's right and this is something many have taken potshots at the FO about in the past. Players are like poker cards. It doesn't matter if you got the cards in the initial facedown deal or the subsequent face-up draws. At the end of the hand, all the previous action doesn't matter. If you're still in, you play your best five cards. It really should be that simple but often isn't.

Wel the the Jets FO should learn to play checkers because they suck at cards.

Harrison was a man among boys at times during the preseason. I never saw that in Dixon's play.

That's really the only way you can evaluate a scouting department / FO - how talented are the guys on the final roster regardless of where they came from.

The Jets have done a pretty nice job with UDFA over the last few years. This season we might have 3 starters from there (Moore, DeVito, Howard)

And don't forget some occasional great draft classes - 2012 might be one of those.

If Antonio Allen was cut by any other team no one here would blink! He's probably never going to become Ronnie Lott. For whatever reason, people always fall in love with players at the bottom of the depth chart. Antonio Allen can very very very easily be replaced.
