He's done nothing since his supposed "excellent" training camp. He was out there for 3-4 quarters during each preseason game and did nothing. Also invisible through first two games.

His lack of bulk/moves is his ultimate downfall. Starting to think last year was a fluke.

He played well over his head last year, made a few plays from a small sample, and all was well and good. In the end he's the same guy that was a complete bust with the Buffalo Bills, nice story, nice guy, hard worker, maybe belongs on an NFL roster, just don't ever expect him to do anything during a game.

I'm down on Maybin, he needs to show up next week, or the team should make a move and bring Sapp up, we need that pass rushing OLB who can be a factor against the run and pass.

Here's hoping that GS3 under center, and Coples on the edge works out.

He has bulk, and moves. What he lacks is balance. I don't know if that's fixable. McIntyre is not going to allow him the chance it would seem anyway. He got 66 snaps to Maybin's 14, and he made the most of them. Thomas better hurry back, or he's gonna be Pip'd

He has been lost as an OLB which is disappointing, but as a pass rusher, we have faced 2 opponents that dont suit him well. Buffalo is quick passing and Ben is so adept at moving away from the rush, that he can easily step away from maybins speed rush.

Id love to see him do something this week and get a little momemtum going

Call me Maybin.

Only two weeks but Maybin is very easy to block. Once the OL gets their hand on him, he is through. IN order for him to be successful he has to beat his man clean off the LOS and that is very hard to do. Most tackles are willing to give ground against him b.c they know he cannot push them back, so they just ride him wide or stalemate him.

He showed that one alternate move against Washington last year but that was it. He is a luxury item right now and quite frankly a waste of a roster spot if he doesn't show something quickly.

Careful there DDNYJets. There were a bunch of people who were quietly predicting huge things for Maybin this year. Huge things.

Exactly. The long suffering Jet fan is looking for a savior. As I said last year, after the premature hype, Maybin is what he is. Undersized pass rushing specialist who is average at best.

Maybin???? What happened to the rest of this d? Every one was yelling and screaming that couples was a beast. Yeah against 2's and 3's, against real starters he's being held in check and was on the sidelines a bunch. Welcome to the NFL.

Aaron Maybin says he must step up his play after performance in first two weeks

After two games in which he has yet to register a sack, tackle or hit on the quarterback, Aaron Maybin says that he must improve his play. The linebacker was left off the stat sheet after playing 13 snaps in Pittsburgh. He played 16 snaps against Buffalo.

"I feel like I have to step it up," Maybin said today.

Maybin had six sacks and forced four fumbles last year, a breakout season for him as he joined the Jets. Those are the types of plays by which he measures himself. And with his production lacking, the self-critical Maybin is pointing the finger at himself.

"I was alright the first game with how I played because we came up big at the end of the game as a team with the win. But when you look at our performance yesterday, I don’t feel like I played bad, but when I don’t have game-changing plays, per se, I don’t feel as though I did my job because that’s what they expect from me."
