The lack of respect towards Bryan Thomas in this thread is in really poor taste. He was a good player for this organization for a very long time.

For a first rounder taken in the 20s, I'll take an unheralded starter that stays with the team for 10 years any day of the week |

It is par for the course. Is it because NFL players get paid so much compared to the rest of us ? Unless you are capable of performing at all-star level, long terms mid-level and lower level players will be ridiculed. Sure, he was a first round pick but we are not talking about a Gholston-like performance here, he served a purpose or he would never have been resigned after his rookie contract. |

This news is bittersweet and Thomas was the longest standing blueblood Jet, but this is also a valid indication that the "take no prisioners" attitude is alive and well in the halls of Florham Park. The coaches see a weak spot, they fill it with someone one step faster. I like it.

hopefully this opens up more playing time for Mayhem and Davis in passing situations with McIntyre containing the run

This is nothing more than a procedural move because the Jets are short handed for the game tomorrow due to injuries. Financially the team more or less has to resign him next week to avoid a higher cap charge for him. If Lankster, Keller, or Conner were playing this week they would not have released Thomas, but hes the one guy that doesnt have to clear waivers.

Ummm no. He'll be back Monday. They need a roster spot for a CB and he doesn't need to clear waivers if they cut him, unlike other options. Unless some other team throws alot of money at him he's not going anywhere. As for the take not prisoners/see a weak spot idea....come on now. The team has the same glaring needs today that it had last year with the exception of Safety. |

2. Agree to disagree. Much like in The Art of War, you have to keep your troops fresh in order to forge ahead and I think this set of coaches get that. I like Rex changing up working hours so the players are better rested. Hey speaking of things that could be worse, Al Groh highlights with the Jets are on the NFL Network right now. |

Because he's a vested vet he doesn't go through wavers.
Smart roster manipulation by the Jets. He's hurt and wasn't going to be active this week. They basically told him we're gonna "cut" you then bring you back next week on the same contract....enjoy your weekend off. The only risk is that the kid they brought up off the practice squad will have to go through waivers next week and they risk losing him. Otherwise nothing to see here. Good work Tanny. |

I just saw that the Chargers did the same thing last week with some players so I guess Tanny bit that move from A.J Smith.
