There is hope.

Not for this year but for Revis' future.

Here is Jamaal Charles' 91 yd TD run from yesterday. He suffered an ACL tear last season. He hasn't lost a step. Not to mention he actually hurt the same knee last week against the Bills.

An ACL tear is not the death sentence it once was. Revis will be fine.

Yes. But what does that have to do with this? He is untradeable now anyway.

Here's hoping that GS3 under center, and Coples on the edge works out.

The hope is that our defense learns how to play without Revis. Our brand new offense, and our brand new receivers are off right now, but now without Revis we are going to have to give up on the ground and pound, and be aggressive. Stranger things have happened than the loss of your best player being a catalyst for teams coming together. If we learn how to play without him either we're that much better when he heals, or we trade him for a boatload of picks. Say what you want about our offense, but they are very close to clicking. I don't know if they will. Sanchez has to be better with his placement, and Hill has to catch the ball, or sit and watch Schillens. Powell, and McKnight have to be a starting tandem, and the Defense needs to be more agressive. Coples needs to get playing time, and Cromartie needs to take ownership of the backfield, and impose his will. When he's aggressive no one beats him. Unless you've been able to predict the outcome of each season then don't tell me this is not possible. If you just bet all your money on the Vikings, and Raiders to win this weekend then you may bash me now. The Jets problems have all been due to individual breakdowns on both sides of the ball. They haven't been straight outplayed at all. These things "can" be corrected. We'll see. That's why they play the games.

Wasn't your premise that you were not talking about this season? We will take this season to find out whether or not he's worth 1/3 of our defensive salary cap or not.

Revis would only worth 1/3 of our defensive salary cap if we are planning on having a mediocre defense. He is emmensely talented. Talented enough, in fact, that he can singlehandedly take a bad defense and make them mediocre.

But, if you want to have an elite defense, you do not invest 1/3 of your defensive salary cap in a cornerback. You invest that money in the trenches, in stopping the run and rushing the passer.

But, that's only if you want to be an elite defense.

If you just want to be mediocre and have a guy whose jersey you can wear and brag about having the best cornerback in the league while you go 8-8, then you give Revis $15 million a year.
