Cimini: Stephen Hill may be out, too

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- It doesn't sound like Stephen Hill will be on the field Sunday against the 49ers.

The rookie wideout suffered a hamstring injury in the Jets' win over the Dolphins and Rex Ryan didn't seem optimistic about his status for Week 4.

"That's a hamstring on a skilled athlete, so we'll see about this week. He might be kind of iffy for this week," Ryan said.

Hill, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound rookie, has largely been a non-factor for the past two weeks.

Against Miami, he was targeted seven times but had no receptions. He had a dropped touchdown pass as well.

Chaz Schilens will likely replace Hill. Schilens played 40 snaps against Miami, finishing with two catches for 16 yards.

Hill has been held without a catch for the past two weeks.

Hill's production (or lack thereof) comes as a bit of a surprise considering his Week 1 performance.

The former Georgia Tech star caught five balls for 89 yards and two touchdowns in the Jets' win over Buffalo.

Though, it should be noted, he did it against Bills rookie CB Stephon Gilmore.

Thank God we had that sleep consultant last week. Can you imagine how many more players would have been injured if not for that?

P.S. Eight hours per night seems to be the magic formula

Honestly without the POTENTIAL of Hill on the field the Jets WR corp is AWFULL!!!!

I can not for the life of me think of a team with a worse WR situation and RB situation in the entire NFL!!!!!!

The Jets will be lucky to put up 100 passing yards against SF.

Luckily for us, there are only 32 teams in the league.

Has Braylon been let go by Seattle yet?

But seriously, we're screwed.

This is going to be an ugly gm vs 49ers ... I say rest Hill for Texans gm in 2 wks. You cant risk injuring Hill and losing him for the yr. Forget that!!!

Eh. Hill needed a break anyway. He was playing like a receiver with no confidence.

Interested to see what Schilens has (if anything). But yeah, if Keller doesn't play, this team is screwed.

Isn't Gaffney the best FA out there?

Then you must think Sanchez sucks, because there's no way a "not bad" group of WRs would combine for one catch in an entire half unless the QB play was truly sub-par. I don't care how good the defense is.

You're entitled to your opinion.

But "breaking it" to us is not going to make those of us who disagree change our minds.
