Revis done with Jets...(possibly in 18 months)? This does not sound good

A completely speculative article based on nothing factual.
No team will be willing to pay Revis more than the Jets. |

Not the point, the point is becasue of the franchise tag option in his contract, sounds like we would have to pay him before seeing if he's still got it... if we wait, then you know he's testing free agency

I wouldn't pay him anyway. Let's just get a pass rush then we don't need any good corners. WE could have no secondary at all like the Giants every year.

Exactly what I was going to post. He's worth more to the Jets than to other teams. For better or worse, the Jets will offer more to Revis than the next highest bidder, if it even comes to that.

well.. Revis can't sit out of the 2013 training camp, or 4 years are added onto his deal. That means he'll have to show up and prove that he's healthy. If he is, and the Jets want to proceed, they'll have the entire 2013 season to work out a deal with Revis. What's the issue again?

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but who cares if he comes back to us or not?
One position, unless its a franchise qb should not eat up 20% of your cap space The Jets having a lack of talent across the board and need to fill all these spots to reach their goal. Paying Revis would make this nearly impossible. |

Rich Cimini needs to pump out X amount of articles every day, so he figured he'd spend one purely speculating.
Revis will no doubt try to prove his worth that he's 100% back before he signs any deal. Hopefully he will negotiate during training camp/regular season with the Jets. |

people DO realize he's under contract through next year?
and that if he holds out it triggers a clause that extends the Jets rights over him for an additional 4 years? it sucks for Revis and it sucks for the 2012 Jets, but this injury gives us all the leverage for his contract going forward. |

I feel exactly the same way. We all know what a stud Revis is. We just have too many other holes to fill. I think the NYJ need to already be in 'move on mode' regarding him. |

And can we please stop pretending like Revis is making just pennies? He's an unbelievable player and all, no doubt, but he made $15 million entering his holdout year of 2010, and then a guaranteed $32.5 million on top of that.
Does he deserve to be paid handsomely? Yes. Provided he makes a full recovery, is he worth a big contract? Yes. Is he in a financial crisis? No. Will he, in the next two lifetimes, be in a financial crisis? No. Let's have some perspective, please. |
