Absolutely remember sitting through Williams' specials with my parents. Just a cavalcade of sappy guests, music, and bits. (As an example, the friggin', awful Osmonds were always included.) The Christmas show was particularly annoying. Even as a kid, I knew this music was garbage.
Best part of these specials was Williams' wife, French Hottie, Claudine Longet. Longet, an actress and singer, is best known for having shot and killed her boyfriend, American skier, Spider Sabich. Longet claimed the rifle went off as he showed her how to use it. She was later convicted not of manslauter or murder, but criminal negligence, for which she paid a small fine and served 30 days in jail. ![]() ![]() ![]() RIP, Andy. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Not sure if I was physically rubbing, but I was truly smitten with Longet. And I don't want to speak badly of the dead, but I just never liked those specials. I felt the same way as when my great aunt (in her 80s) would make me watch The Mitch Miller Show, horribly tortured. That was music and "comedy" for saps and old folks. No offense. So cute. |
