Jonathan Grimes
Biography: Four-year starter awarded varying degrees of all-conference an All-American honors since his freshman season. Senior totals included 288 tenths/1431 yards/10 TDs on the ground with 23 receptions/262 yards/4 TDs. Also averaged 22.1 yards on 37 kick returns. Junior rushing totals included 207/887/8, when he was also named CAA Special Teams Player of the Year, averaging 24.9 yards on 12 kick returns. Positives: Ultra-productive small school skill player who positively affects the game in a variety of ways. Instinctive ballcarrier who displays terrific running vision, effectively uses his blocks and runs low to the ground. Makes several defenders miss at the line of scrimmage and in the open field, keeps plays in bounds and works hard to pick up as much yardage as possible. Keeps his feet moving up the field. Deceptively strong and breaks form tackles or falls forward when tackled to pick up the extra yards. Solid receiver out of the backfield. Effectively picks up blocking assignments, squaring into defenders and keeping them from the action. Negatives: Lacks the speed and agility to turn the corner. Not a fluid cutback runner and loses momentum when he must immediately change direction. Analysis: Grimes lacks classic size/speed numbers for the next level yet has been productive in several areas since his freshman campaign. He gets the most from his ability and has the potential to make a roster as a situational ballcarrier and special teams ace. Projection: FA 2011 Rushing Statistics Rushing Yards Attempts Average Per Rush Touchdowns 1431 288 5.0 10 2011 Receiving Statistics Receptions Receiving Yards Average Per Reception Receiving Touchdowns 23 262 11.4 4 Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...#ixzz27Ve3tXyT |

2 possible takeaways:
- Rex & co finally addressing the issue at RB (and hopefully this means they're willing to give Powell the majority of touches) - They may give serious consideration to having McKnight play CB |

i'm wondering if that's really why they've been hiding mcknight, when revis got the concussion. even so it can't bode well for mcknight getting carries.

the jets carry like 8 cbs, why would they experiment with mcknight at cb? seems piss poor if this happens and says alot about your depth.

McKnight was considered one of the best CB prospects in the country coming out of high school-- and would likely be a pro bowl caliber NFL CB right now if Pete Carroll didn't convert him to RB

They're tired of Greene "running to contact" instead of "running to daylight"

Jets signed RB Jonathan Grimes off the Texans' practice squad.
Interesting. Undrafted out of William & Mary, Grimes impressed Texans coaches with his downhill style early in training camp. A four-time all-conference pick in the Colonial Athletic Association, Grimes totaled 130 yards on 28 preseason carries (4.64 YPC) to go with 58 yards on six receptions. The addition of Grimes is yet another indication that Shonn Greene's role is on the wane. We would hold off on picking up Grimes in all but the deepest leagues. McKnight wants to be a corner...
I recall reading the interviews with the players and they always ask them the same questions... One of them is "What position would you want to play if you couldn't play your current position." Almost every player points out a noticable position like QB, RB, or WR. McKnight answered with Cornerback. That was 2 years ago. He's a tremendous athlete but just doesn't seem perfectly suited for RB. Seems willing to work hard too considering he spent a ton of time with Bart and Kenrick this offseason. That's always a good thing. As for the Grimes signing, I think it's a bigger indictment of Shonn Greene. They aren't happy with him. (Rightfully) and are examining other ideas. |

Texans coaches reportedly "love" undrafted rookie RB Jonathan Grimes.
They reportedly like his downhill running style. Grimes would probably need Houston to keep four tailbacks to make the final 53, but he looks like a prime practice squad candidate. A four-time all-conference pick in the Colonial Athletic Association, Grimes ran 4.47 at 5'10/210 at his Pro Day this spring. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/...onathan-grimes |

So you essentially want an immediate starter out of the 4th round? Ok... I'll take my chances on someone reaching a high level (especially at a position that is now a possible weakness) over being a so-so player at another position.
