Merrill Hodge says the 49ers defense hold the Jets to 100 yds total offense!!!

I'm sorry I don't put any stock into what the talking heads say (least of all Merrill Hodge) but he just said on ESPN that the 49ers defense will hold the Jets offense to 100 yrds total offense - if the Jets are lucky according to Hodge.

I pray to God that some Jets player reads this and relays it to the rest of the Jets locker room. 100 yrds total offense? What a slap in the face to this entire Jets team!!!

It's time to man up New York Jets and show the entire NFL what you're made of!!!!

Sadly, 150 yards of total offense is more likely than 400 yards of total offense as a betting man. However, realistically could be looking at 275 yards total offense and 13-17 points.

I hope the spreading the ball around to everyone and all the 3rd down conversions like against the Bills returns!

This is a nightmare matchup... But less than 100 yards is highly unlikely.

I can see 200 yards of total offense. 60-70 yards running, 130 yards throwing.

SF will likely have about 350 yards, and yet I think the Jets keep this closer than many are expecting.

I just love these analysts...I would agree with him if we were playing the 85 bears with our 96 team but this is getting ridiculous...I feel confident that we will eclipse this number on our second drive...these guys make it impossible to watch the shows

I don't think an offense can play a worse pair of games than they did against the Ravens the last two years, and we got 150 and 176 in those. Under 100 yards is unspeakably terrible. The 9ers defense isn't that good and our offense isn't that bad.

I've only found 3 occurrences of this since 2000.

The 2000 Ravens held the Bengals to 94 yards.

The 2000 Titans (whose defense was almost as good as the Ravens, but has been overshadowed as the years go by) held the Cowboys to 95 yards.

The 2009 Jets held the Bengals to 72 yards.

Last year, the 49ers only held 1 team below 200 yards.

I like Hoge most of the time, but that was a hyperbolic statement.

Logic says that on paper SF should beat the Jets really bad but in the past the Jets have proven that they win the games they are supposed to lose and lose the games they are supposed to win. Even if they lose in the end this will be another brick in the wall in building a a great franchise. Remember that these sports reporters make names for themselves by saying things out in left field but this one is on the moon,

This has happened 12 times in the last 12 seasons, not including this one.

The worst was when the Bills held the Browns to 26 yards in '04. It's happened to the Browns 3 times since they re-entered the league.

The Raiders and Bengals are the other repeat offenders of recent years.

Less than 100 yards is pure hyperbole. Did he mean that literally or was he just saying the Jets will get blown out? You'll get more than 100 yards just as sure as you'll get crushed today.
