Are we ready for 2-3 years of bad football as we rebuild?
Watching Miami yesterday I could not help but think that they are only a few players away from becoming a good team. New coaching staff and a quality QB have made all the difference. The Jets have way too many needs to fix in one off season and it may require time to really improve this team. The question is will the New York media and fans who want a winner allow them the luxury of losing to get better and do they believe they have the management to get make the right choices?

I think you are either in a rebuilding mode or you're going for the division. You can't do both

Woody Johnson doesn't seem like they type who will be patient enough to go through a few down years in order to truly rebuild. He's much more of a band-aid approach kind of guy (no pun intended). He'll try to make a big splash in free agency, or bring in a new coach, thinking that will solve the problem. And, at the very least, it will temporarily divert attention from the lack of talent on the team. In that respect, the Jets are much like the Knicks...always bringing in some new "savior", but never really getting any better. |

Having been a loyal fan for 44 years 2-3 years of bad football is a mere bump in the road.

Our only means of acquiring the ammunition to possibly pull off a "quick fix" has an ACL.
We were always 2-3 years away. When you don't have a QB, you have nothing. We were never winning a SB without a QB. Being the AFC runner-up is light years from winning the SB. Right now, best case scenario we can fight for a playoff spot in 2014. Thats assuming we can pull off another 2007 off season. Clear the cap space, hit on a few draft picks and sign good FAs. |
