OK so who is worth keeping?

Let's try to look at this roster and uncover the positives. Rather than talk about who should be cut and when, where is it that we have talent that is

(a) NFL Caliber or has shown potential?
(B) Healthy and young enough to make giving them their next contract a viable proposition?
(c) Likely to be affordable from a salary cap point of view. Example: Nick Mangold is great but Nick Mangold at 100 million per year is not?

I think a major rebuild is staring us in the face so it is highly unlikely that veterans such as Pace or Scott are going to be part of the picture.

This is a thread to talk about positives (link to the current roster below)

There are a lot of people around here who think every player that puts on a Jets jersey or who is on the practice squad fits this category.

Bell - If healthy and if affordable after this year
Coples - Has rookie deal so investment is made
Cromartie - Money is spent. No new deal however
Davis - See Coples
Devito - Need some blue collar guys
Ellis - May end up as the best of the Tanny draftees.
Ferguson - Not elite, not cheap but above average
Folk
Harris - Only if we surround him with speed and only if his price comes down significantly
Harrison - Intriguing guy
Hill - Where's that stickum?
Kerley
Landry - See Bell
Lankster - Not really sure why. One of these kids has to work out.
Malone - So far so good
Mangold - Can start a franchise with this guy.
Pouha - Not convinced he is done. No ego. Will slide nicely into a non starting role when it is time.
Reuland - Looks decent so far
Revis - Salary demands will need to be kept within reason or CYA
Slausen - See Devito
Wilkerson - Solid at worst and could be significantly better than that

I agree with most of your selections ... I think

Pouha IS done
Not sure about Slauson or Harrison

I think we should keep Powell, Keller as well.

Revis
Wilkerson
Ellis
Coples
Harrison
Mangold
Ferguson
Moore
Kerley
Hill
Harris
Demario Davis
Cromartie
Bell
Bush
Landry
McKnight (guy is misused badly)
Marcus Dowtin
Malone
Folk
Jordan White
Antonio Allen

Id cut the rest. These are guys who either can play or are young and have enough potential to deserve to stick around.

This is a better topic for December than Oct 1st.

But if the jets are rebuilding and placing myself as a jets fan I would

Trade D-brick, Cro, and Revis and Harris. Not that they are bad players just too much cap room. I don't expect to get much back and the cap hit will kiss off next year but money has to be cleared.

Cut Sanchez, Pace and Scott.

Sign Brian Hoyer and David Garrard as stopgaps.

Rebuild with scraps and suck again next year, back to back years with top 10 pick this year and a top 5 next and cap room.

This is what should be done, but the homers here don't see the big picture. There is too much money spent on these players and the lack of talent and depth is what is killing this team. You can't rebuild with no cap space.

A house cleaning maybe in order... starting with your GM ... someone who has a clue on how to build a winning organization..... after that... let him make calls on coaches and players..

sorry.. but not interested in Trading Revis under any circumstances...

Thread drift.

Can we all agree that Nick Mangold is a keeper?

Who else?

You can't trade all of them. In New York that won't work in this day and age. You need SOME star power. I can see Brick & Revis leaving. On Cro, it depends how he plays this season. Harris is still a good player. Just needs a fast linebacker to complement him.
