Sanchez and its not even close. Can he lay massive eggs and baffle you with idiotic plays? Yes. Does he give you a chance to win every game, regardless of situation and has shown an ability to step up in the biggest moments? Yup. Pennington was a mirage. An "accurate" qb who could feed off bottom feaders but was completley unable to drive a team for a clutch TD with less than 3 minutes left.

Hmm lets see...

Chad: 66% 7.2avg 90.1 rating 102td 64int

Mark: 54.8% 6.5avg 72.9 rating 60td 55int

Mark has wet dreams of putting up Pennington's numbers and that says a lot about our #5 overall pick to perfection.

Pennington pre shoulder injury was much better.

2002 he was awesome. 69% 3,120 yards, 7.83 YPA, 22 TD 6 INT 104 QB rating.

Pennington under Schotty wasn't too hot, but he was awesome with the Dolphins that one year. Way better accuracy and higher football IQ than Sanchez.

Pennington's only faults were the injuries and Schotty. A healthy Pennington would have won a lot more games for us in 09 and 11 with those teams... Not sure about 2010 an the postseason, but let's not pretend Mark carried us in any of those games. He was a game manager for the most part, and no one did that better than The Chad.

Ironically, Pennington is exactly the type of QB that Rex wants... Except for being fragile.

+1000000000000.

I still have flash backs to some of his play action moves... awesome.

Brains, heart..passion....and fragile as glass.

Remember all of those 4th quarter comebacks that Chad led during his years with the Jets?

Neither do I. Because they never happened.

Chad was great with a lead and was phenomenal at play-action, but if you needed to sling it and make up points, Chad was in over his head. That's why I will always love Vinny T. He could suck for 3 quarters and then get on a hot streak and steal a game. Chad Never had that kind of ability.

Sanchez is so bad people are liking pennington again. Time and sucky qb play heals all wounds.

Pennington pre injury would have gotten us to the promise land, no doubt. Pennington was a road scholar with a unique ability to read defenses. Pennington would have grown to be one of the top QB's in the league today, yes alongside Brady and manning, I truly believe that. It sucks for him that due to the injuries that did not get to happen, but just the luck of the Jets, right, all the potential in the world and then the Jets come along and it all falls apart.

Chad scared Pats fans believe it or not. He was so damn accurate even if he couldn't throw a long pass. He could thread a needle. It was frustrating. He knew how to keep drives going.

Chad was WAY better than Mark. I mean, its not even close... and that's saying something.

I still get the feeling there are a lot of fans who refuse to believe what their eyes are seeing. That is, a truly bottom-of-the-barrel NFL QB in Mark Sanchez.

Sad, but true.

boy chaddy was certainly pretty good when he first came in and took over for vinny. and that was in spite of hackjob. to be fair he had better receivers than sanchez has had to deal with and he had a back in martin who could do it all. his oline played better too.

of course the ideal would be chaddy's head on sanchez' body. then we'd have a qb.

A healthy Chad would have been the equivalent to Matt Ryan today, and that would certainly be good enough to have made or won a Super Bowl under Rex.

These kind of threads are depressing.
