Will we ever try a 4-3??

Damon Harrison shined in his two plays. Can we try Harrison and Ellis at DT, with Coples and DeVito/Pace at DE?

I can't take these 200 yard rushing games anymore. And not one of our starting LBs is playing well. They are killing our defense. Put Harris, Davis and McIntyre out there at LB and lets see what happens. Can't possibly be worse . . .

No MLB for 4-3 and no speed at DE with those guys.

Why the hell do people keep saying we're better suited for a 4-3 when all of our DE's are 300 lbs?

I know that's the knock. But it can't be any worse.

That would make a stout front four to try and run against and at least our LBs would theoretically be more free to try and make some plays. Our current LBs cant get off blocks - so having them charge into the line from the 3-4 doesnt work for us at all right now.

it's not that our personnel is so well-suited for the 4-3. It's that the 3-4 isn't worth crap to us atm the moment either. No pressure, no sacks, and little ability to stop the run. What's to like?

On a few pass plays tonight, Coples was getting tripled-teamed.

A 4-3 wouldn't help the run D. Your taking away a MLB to play DT. Our issue is our LBs can't keep up with RBs when they do get past the line. Now you want to take one away? Coples and Pace wouldn't do much vs the run in a 4-3 but it may help the pass rush. Devito would be useless at DE. A fast back would trot right past him every play. We simply do not have the LBs to play a 4-3 too. You'd be asking the OLB to cover TEs and that isn't happening on this team either. Honestly I think Rex would like to do it but knows he is a good 2 years away from making it viable.

we just need more talent in the front 7 period... look at all the high draft picks houston has used over the years. cushing, barwin, watt, reed, even drafting mercilus in round 1 this year. they have a killer group of pass rushers

Granted it was only 3 plays and everyone knew it was a run but big Damon Harrison looked disruptive on them. He was a main player on the 3 and 1 stop to force punt at end of game. Put him out there, the run D can't get any worse. None of our D lineman or LB's can look past or shed their blockers anyway.

In a 4-3, Coples might be better served by playing inside where he can use his quickness against guards instead of athletic offensive tackles. But for that to happen, you'd have to have a space eater who always demands a double team.
