What the hell is the "Hipster Jets Fan"?

As a long time Jets fan who's been to many games in person and tailgated quite a bit, I'm lost as to why the "interwebs" seem to think we're a bunch of hipsters. "Blue collar" I can see, but not "hipster".

Apparently, it's a meme now. I wish I was wrong. I hope I still am.

Not sure what it inferred by the 'hipster' reference, but all the poor people and old people were flushed out of the stadium so it smells better now.

Um, the 'interwebz' is saying no such thing.... it's a failed indictment of one Jets fan, not Jets fan in general.

Hipster Jet fans predate hipsters.

They became fans following the 1995 season. They then proclaimed how hardcore their love for the Jets was following the 1996 season.

Prior to that they loved the Argonauts.

The hipsters I'm aware of live in Brooklyn, love heroin, fresh locally baked bread....... and live off Daddy's money.

They will also take any opportunity to put bandanas over their faces and throw bottles at cops.

Not sure if Ive seen one of those freaks at a Jet game.

Brooklyn is one of the largest cities in the US, #4 I think and what you just described is downtown and clear across town from me. Those people don't go to games when they can get $5 pitchers of microbeer on Sundays sitting at a table on the sidewalk. I will never get that. People eating at a sidewalk cafe in the middle of the city. Hundreds of folks walking by smoking, coughing, sneezing, walking their dogs while your eating. Cars & trucks going by with plenty of carbon monoxide in the air.

Not too far off from an NFL tailgate, but IMO not the Jet fan base I see at the stadium.
