Can someone please explain the QB saying "Kill, Kill?"

Maybe I am missing something, buy why on earth do so many quarterbacks in the league when they are changing the play yell out "Kill, Kill"? Is there a more obvious way to alert the defense you are changing the playcall? The only choice of words that would make less sense are "change the play, change the play."

Maybe come up with a code name for an audible, instead of essentially just saying "kill, kill" which translates into "hey defense, we are changing the play so be ready for something different than what we originally called."

They don't always change the play calling when they say Kill Kill.

Sometimes it's simply used as a tactic to make defenses believe that.

Besides, what's more important is that the defense has no idea what the play will be changed to.

LOL...and how long will it take for the defense to figure that out?? The defense still doesnt know what the play is GOING to be.

And also they are almost always changing from a play when they see that the defense is in formation that would most likely lead the offense into a negative play.

Read my next post. I worded that one poorly. Why do offenses usually audible? it seems that its almost always because with the called play they see the defense lined up in an optimal way to stop the play. Hence, they change the play.

That would make sense if true. But I disagree with the last point. While they have no idea what the play changed to, they know it most likely changed from a play that was originally called where the defense was properly set up and aligned to stop the play. So why tell them you are changing the play.

Doesnt really matter if the defense knows we're audibling, they still don't know what the original or what the new playcall is.
