Challenge Flag Rule

This has to be the stupidist rule ever conceived.

A coach throwing a challenge flag on a TD/turnover negates the opportunity for the refs to review the play? That's just idiotic.

What is the rationale behind not letting throwing the flag anyhow, and even if they call it an unsportsmanlike penalty, what the hell is the logic behind not reviewing the play?

If instant replay is meant to fix bad calls, then they should do just that.

This is the NFL we are talking about. A league awash in bizarre if not idiotic rules that pop up once every 10 years and then disappear never to be called again because every one realizes how stupid the rule is. (ie the tuck rule)

Couldn't a smart coach totally manipulate this to his team's advantage?

For example, could you throw the challenge flag out on a play you know is questionable just to force the refs to make it stand and take the 15 yard penalty instead?

The funny thing is, I remember how Belichick once threw the red flag on a scoring play this year. The ref picked it up and told BB that he isnt allowed to do it... of course no penalty!!!
