Convinced I'll never see a Jets or Mets championship.

Aside from the Monday night debacle of 2010, the Jets have played New England very well in the Ryan era. Thanksgiving night should be very interesting. Unfortunately the Jets won't have a great fan showing.

Not really. The Ravens are just 1 game behind them right now. The Texans play the Patriots in primetime at Foxboro in 3 weeks. They lose that game and there will be a sprint to the finish between NE, Denver, Houston, and Baltimore for homefield advantage and the byes.

and at best the eternal dilemma of how hard to play to earn the right not to play.

The Jets can't think about what any other team is doing from here on out, all the Jets can do is concentrate on winning the game in front of them. Right now that's the Patriots, next week it will be the Cards, and so on. We can't think about tiebreakers or matchups or head-to-heads or anything, all we can think about right now is WINNING! Just gotta WIN! The Jets can win their way to the postseason and they certainly have a schedule that favors it, but first they've got to get past the Patriots on Thanksgiving. That's the #1 thing this week, then 10 days off and on to the #1 thing against the Cardinals. That's how it works from here on out.
