One Of Rex & Tanny's Biggest Error Returns Sunday!

That's right! Kerry Rhodes is back! I know he was Hollywood, this and that. But what has our safety position been since he has been gone? Brodney Pool, Eric Smith, and Laron Landry. Granted Landry has held down the position decently, safety is still a huge hole since he has been gone. He would be the PERFECT player to have right now with the Patriots personnel. When he was here we rarely got burned by tight ends, now we get burned weekly. This moves still annoys me to this day.

Rhodes is fast enough, it's just that he's not very willing to tackle... That just doesn't work too well from a safety.

Arizona can get by with it because they ask him to play a lot of center field and also have perhaps the best tackling safety in Adrian Wilson.

You can barely live with corners who can't tackle (Cromartie and Wilson) but you absolutely cannot live with safeties who don't want to tackle.

We all thought Rhodes was bad until we saw how much worse it could get in '10 and '11. Safety play this year outside of Eric Smith has actually been solid, one of the few pleasant surprises

Rhodes had one good year under mangini where we sent him at the qb quite often and he was getting strip sacks etc. But ask him to play the classic safety position and he is average at best.

Rhodes needed to go. He was a legend in his own head, and he refused to do the things that the Jets needed from a Safety, like tackling.

He's had a nice career rebound in Arizona, so good for him.

Sometimes the fit just isn't right, and a move is good for both the club and the player. This was one of those times.

No regrets here that Rhodes moved on.

I like to see things through non jet fan glasses.

For example, if you asked a non jets fan, "Did the jets make a mistake letting kerry rhodes go?", the most likely answer you would get is "Who?"

Now ask a non cheifs fan if it was a mistake to let jarred allen go to the vikings and you would get a "Oh hell yes."

What a waste that guy is/was. His 1st few seasons with us he was a pro bowl caliber playmaker. Just a great player, then he went insane for some reason. I'm surprised he is still in the league actually.

The year Kerry Rhodes was here was the best defensive year under Rex.

Oh look. A Former Jet Obsession Syndrome Thread.

How new and interesting.

If only Kerry Rhodes and Braylon Edwards and Danny Woodhead.....Super Bowl, surely.

are you kidding? kerry rhodes on either fernandez or gronkowski? what are you smoking? rhodes couldn't even cover edelman and he would have never been able to knock edelman out like landry did. and it's not the safety or cb play that's a problem it's the lb play and spotty dline play.

look at thursday. first play the dline crushed the patsie oline. where was that for the rest of the game?

Landry has been better than Rhodes ever was. Rhodes couldn't cover Hernandez and would get trucked by Gronk. Not to mention that he would make the locker room of the past couple of years even worse.

Say what you want about Wilson, but one thing he does well is tackle. And Cro has stepped up his willingness to get his nose in there as of late, too.
