I found this surprising about our running backs...

...the Jets are ranked 12th in rushing yards per game. I figure with all the blame they get they'd at least be in the bottom 5:

Our Defense is ranked 10th currently (based on yards). Although much lower in points allowed.

Our Running Game is ranked 12th.

Our QB is ranked 32, and #1 overall in total turnovers and (I believe) points scored by opponents off his turnovers (i.e. pick 6's and assfumble 6's).

I like to wonder how effective our D and RB would be with an average, 15th ranked, 15th in turnovers, QB.

well....

they're the only team in the top 12 that averages less than 4.1 a carry (3.8)

and considering it's pass happy league, you have to figure their 363 attempts, which is the 7th highest in the top 12, is probably also the 7th highest in the league. If you have the 7th most rushing attempts in the the NFL, you better be borderline top 5 in yardage.

Considering it is a passing league and the Jets were supposed to be a ground and pound team, a 3.8 YPC average is pretty bad.

Yards per game is fairly irrelevant. You have to look at yards per carry and that is where we are 5th worst, only ahead of teams that have lost their starting RBs for parts of the year like the Jags, Cards and Cowboys.

Why are they rushing and moving the chains, or fumbling along the way, are they rushing for 6 points the only thing that matters on O, is first downs and touchdowns.

Sanchez has been figured out. Stop the run, and "force him to do something he's not comfortable doing, throwing the ball".

Believe it was Ray Lewis who said this.

No doubt he's a large factor in the poor running game. The Jets O-line isn't bad contrary to what is said around here.

What are you basing this on?
I count 6 other teams averaging 3.8 yards a carry including slouches like Denver and Atlanta and 3 other teams under 3.8.

nice Martin dig, but the Jets weren't considered ground and pound in 1998.

Earlier in the year, when all the knee-jerk Fantasy GM's wanted to deal Shonn Greene for some magic beans, I said that our 3 backs would end up as one of the better groups by season's end.

So stating the truth is a dig?? What's a fact is if Saint Cumar ran for 3.5 it was a good year if any other Jet RB does it he's crap..

It's because of ties. If you count from the bottom, we are tied with 7 other teams for 4th worst YPC in the nfl

rushing yards per game is a horribly misleading stat as all you have to do really is run the ball more often than the other teams. Hell, you could lead the league by a wide margin while gaining 2.5 yards per carry if you run it often enough.

Just wondering if it was me or not, but has anyone noticed that Greene and Powell have been getting some pretty decent-good yardage? Idk, it seems like I see them getting 4 or so yards more often in the latest weeks.

The line has definitely moved people of the ball in recent weeks. Even at the beginning of the Pats they had a bunch of good runs. But it seems like everything is a little too late.

They have stayed healthy this year and are playing as a unit. Howard is now used to playing, remember he was named starter very late in pre-season and did not get a lot of work with the starters.
