Eli Manning gets a pass thanks to the Jets
He has totally regressed back to how he was his first few years in the league. Poor decisions, poor throws to nobody, pick sixes, multiple picks a game, etc. And he actually has talent around him (which has saved him from losing several times). He totally gets a pass because our team is such a circus. The media should be trashing him worse than Sanchez. The Giants may not make the playoffs because of his play.

The Giants are due for a letdown. They've had a lot of sucess coming off so-so regular seasons (9-7 wildcard teams). They were never a dominant regular season team under Eli. They're just not getting hot when they need to get hot this time.

Because he's won two Super Bowls, one just last season.
Do that and your QB will get a pass for a poor season, too. |

The only legit top QB season Eli has had in his career was last season. He was never as bad as people made him out to be between '04-'07, and he's not as good as people have made him out to be over the past 5 years. The fact that people would take Eli over Peyton after the super bowl last year blew my mind. Peyton has been playing with FAR less of a defense and a subpar run game his entire career; save this year. Eli has the benefit of the best front office in the game. No one manages their team's talent better than the G-Men. |

Who gives a fig? Who cares about Eli or Freeman or Stafford or any other qb. The only reason these guys get brought up is to make us feel better about our own jag.

Either way, I care and it has nothing to do with our own QB situation. |

BTW, Sanchez and the Jets circus is actually also masking how bad Flacco, Freeman and Stafford have been...all three have a top tier skill player on their offense and fairly potent other options, and they still are crapping the bed.

He gets a pass because he won 2 superbowls. The Jets have nothing to do with it.

That's why I still laugh when people mention Eli and the Hall of Fame in the same sentence. Just watch the guy play, he is not that caliber of a player. Many games like yesterday he's just a trainwreck. For a guy who has been a fringe top 10 QB for most of his career, the idea of him being enshrined in Canton is pretty laughable to me. I get that his Ds shut down great offenses in the playoffs and he had a couple nice moments. You could say the same of Mark Sanchez. I'm not judging a guy based on 8 games when I can judge him on about 160 others as well

Two time Super Bowl MVP's who are capable of winning at least one more before their career is over get passes.

Why do people consider this team such a circus? I hate Tebow as much as anyone but I completely understand why you would get a guy who has done nothing but win his entire life.
People just buy into what the media throws at them. They throw those front pages with the circus mentions and everyone goes with it. The fact that this team continues to win games despite having one of the worst QB's in the league is pretty freaking amazing. |

Eli has two Super Bowl wins, including what is arguably the greatest pocket escape and miracle pass in NFL history.
With that said, it is nearly impossible to repeat now. Unless you cheat, right Belichick? Eli's allowed to be average or even below average. He's already established as one of the most clutch QB's in the league. By the way, he's on pace for another 4,000 yard season, 25+ TD's and 18 or so picks. And the almighty 60+% completion percentage. Criticizing Eli Manning and saying he's "getting a pass," is ridiculous. Even at his worse he's still double the QB of anybody on the Jets roster. What a dumb thread. Dump. |

The Jets are definitely taking some heat off of Eli. Last year before the Jets' meltdown, beginning to middle of the season when the Giants weren't doing well (and Jerry Reese was trashed for his off season moves) and the Jets lockerroom hadn't yet imploded, Tom Coughlin was on the hot seat and there were calls for his head. Not until the pivotal Jets-Giants game did the tone of the media coverage start to turn. Even 2 Superbowls don't innoculate you as much as having a convenient punching bag to trash weekly. This is definitely a what have you done for me lately league.

2007 playoffs – 6 tds – 1 int, Beat (17-0) Pats team in the Superbowl… a team that would have arguably went down as the greatest ever.
2011 playoffs – 9 tds – 1 int – avg’d 305 yards/game – Beat GB, SF on the road and then Pats in the Superbowl. 2 Superbowl MVP’s. People here cite Sanchez’s 4 road playoff wins as proof that he is a “great” QB… Could you imagine if Eli was a Jet, played as well as he did in the playoffs and brought us 2 Championships… |
