PFT: Jets expected to hire Gamble

Take it however you will...

Quote:
Five teams are currently looking for General Managers. Five days after the 2012 regular season ended, a loose sense is emerging as to how things will fall together.

Here’s the quick summary, as it’s currently making the rounds in league circles.

1. The Jets are expected to hire 49ers exec Tom Gamble (pictured).

2. The Jaguars are expected to hire Falcons director of player personnel Dave Caldwell.

3. The Chiefs are expected to hire Packers director of operations John Dorsey.

4. The Cardinals are expected to promote Steve Keim.

5. The Panthers are believed to be leaning toward Giants executive Dave Gettleman.

None of these moves are, you know, 95-percent certain. It’s simply where it all is leaning.

You're assuming the interview will take place when the media reported it will. Perhaps it's already been done?

Wouldn't they know if he's in in town?

1. Isn't Heckert expected to get the job in KC with Dorsey under him?

2. I thought it was Marc Ross who was being considered for the Carolina job, no?

Plus interviewing a person and talking to a person are two different actions.

Who says he had to come to the Jets? Knowing Woody and the Jets' M.O., anything is possible and secrecy shouldn't be discounted.

Not if all the media is focused on a certain piece of body art!

I hope it's true.

This will mean that in 2014 we'll have a H.C. from the San Francisco tree, and I think that's a great thing, whether it's Roman, Fangio, Tomsula, or someone else.

Like it says, this is no guarantee, just how people feel the teams are leaning.

It makes sense, given Gamble's background, that he would be our #1 target. This can be stated even before he has interviewed.

If he completely bombs his interview, things may change but I don't see that happening.

They probably know Dorsey's going to KC with Reid, so they've turned all their attention to Gamble.
