@SportsCenter: BREAKING - Eagles re-sign QB Michael Vick to a 1-year deal for the 2013 season, league sources tell @AdamSchefter.

Thank God

With Chip Kelly in the fold, it makes sense.

Mike Vick's deal with the Eagles for 2013 can be worth up to $10M. Was to make $15.5M previously. Should be good fit with Chip Kelly.

Very smart move by the Iggles. One year gives them a chance to see if he can be redeemed under the new coach and they are not married to the guy,

An incentive laden contract is smart with a guy like Vick who misses games on a regular basis, plus it saves them roughly 6 million from what he was scheduled to make.

huh?

Why would Vick give up a 15.5 mil salary, for 10 mil???

I have to assume he could have been cut this year with very minimal cap hit?

Can anybody clarify?

thank you Philadelphia for preempting what would have been another ending Tebow-esque debate on JI about the wisdom of signing Vick. We fans owe you one. Good luck with Vick. I hope he kicks NY Giant butt for you guys.

I work with a guy who follows Oregon and he says a qb like foles isnt a fit for kellys scheme. I can see KC sending the Eagles a pick for Foles. Maybe the Jets get involved as well.

His salary was not guaranteed for this year. He didnt have a lot of leverage.

The Eagles offense is not going to look exactly like the Oregon offense.

I'm a little surprised by this. Could be Chip Kelly's ego rearing it's head already. You have an aging, injury-prone QB that turns it over a lot. Not really a recipe for success in this league, but I guess Kelly thinks he can squeeze a good year out of him

Who else, available as a FA or in the draft, is going to fit Kelly's offensive style better? Whether or not it works, it is really the only option they have. They wouldn't do this if they felt Geno Smith was a better option for them. Personally I'm in the camp that Geno is going to drop like a rock in this draft.
