One of my treasures from the old days. Incredible band, featuring many guys who would join Clapton in Derek and The Dominos. Plus, Dave Mason and George Harrison, who calls himself "L'Angelo Misterioso".

Check out the sound you will associate with D&TD.

Another nugget lost somewhere in my life.

Four of my first ever 6 albums belong on any "best of" lists from the early 70s. Looking back on these, all released in 1970-1972, I'm amazed at the sheer quality of the work involved.

And the last one, although the least well known, is still one of my favorites as it so captures the essence of the times. Joe Cocker found himself in America with a dozen or so dates left on his tour, when his band deserted him and went back to England. So he invited whatever friends he could, and finished the tour performing rock and soul covers from Dylan, The Beatles, The Stones, Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, and others. With each passing tour stop, his entourage grew larger and larger eventually reaching 40 plus musicians. Folks like Leon Russel, Don Preston, Rita Coolidge and many others join his traveling troupe.

The Tubes at the height of their powers. Awesome live album recorded at London's legendary Hammersmith Odeon.

So ahead of their time, it's not funny. Punk-ish before punk. Only with great theatrics and musicianship.

Considered going to see them when I was in high school. Opted for a Pretenders show instead (Pretenders II album tour), which is still in my list of top ten shows.

Both bands played the same venue a week apart and I could only afford one.
I, as we all did, petty much wanted to **** Chrissie Hynde.
