Well yes, although it's hard to hold that against him, no? I mean, so many of these guys become big with some great early performances but at ome point just start playing themselves. Jack Nicholson plays Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper plays Dennis Hopper (or did), Steve Buschemi plays Steve Buschemi. Heck, Cary Grant played Cary Grant and Humphrey Bogart played Humphrey Bogart.

I like when Hugh Grant plays a stuttering bumbling English guy.

Dont you have a whoo-hah with the meter running you must attend to, lest you arrive unceremoniously at the bottom of your public assistance dole allotment?

Mark Wahlberg. Even when he plays a Boston character it's all the same.

Agreed. Add all of them to my list. In fairness to me, I mentioned Ed Burns, a donkey, first.

But, a caveat....Jack, Dennis, Steve....are enjoyable in their repeat roles. They make it believable..hence "Acting!!".

That takes...talent.

Thinking about it now, though, there are some guys who come to mind who really are different in different roles. Daniel Day Lewis is one. Gene Hackman, Robert Duval. I'd argue Jack Lemon too. These guys didn't have the superstar look or those distinct mannerisms that made their persona show through the makeup.

Oh...and the token female, the wooden, odd delivery of Lorraine Bracco. SHe's got the odd delivery of Walken, without the hip humor.

Agree with Ed Burns. Only movie I ever really liked him in was Saving Private Ryan he really epitomized the whole "Brooklyn Boy in WWII" archetype. Other than that his movies are arthouse suckville.

Disagree about Deniro. You can't blame the man for not cranking out all-time great films every year it's not like great scripts grow on trees. Besides the movies you mentioned he had the Fockers trilogy and Goodfellas is one of the greatest American films ever made.

Lorraine Bracco has great bj lips.

Case in point for me. Watching him in FOckers is painful for me. I dont buy it, therefore...painful and labored.

Bracco was always a beautiful chick (fought over by many a hollywood legend), but her delivery is at best off beat and at worst a monosyllabic, stilted excercise in tongue gnashing. Great for porn, not so great for drama.

She should do porn/humor.
