There's A Trade Market

For Mark Sanchez and it's a huge market that includes many teams. If you listen to the comments of Mike Tannenbaum on the NFL AM show you can't deny that fact.

Fans make assumptions base on emotions, but NFL GMs amek decisions base on information and potential. When work ethic and character is equal to or comes close to potential and you have prior accomplishments to present, you now have a strength from which to work.

The NY Jets may have soured on Mark Sanchez, but somewhere in the NFL, there's a GM or owner who remembers this kid being the QB of a team that defeated the Patriots and the Colts on the road to advance to the AFC Championship game. These same people will consider the talent that was not afforded this player and come to the conclusion that they can win with this player.

The opportunity for a trade will come down to 3 factors.

1 - Have the Jets given up on Mark Sanchez.

2 - Will the Jets accept what will be offered for a player they spent a top 5 1st round draft pick on.

3 - Will Mark Sanchez be willing to reshape his contract so the team willing to make this trade will take the Chance on him.

There's a trade market for Mark Sanchez, but the Jets will have to decide if that avenue is in his best interest.

I don't believe it unless we structure it in a way that we still take a hell of a financial hit. Tanny is full of it. If he is not full of it and the Jets don't trade Sanchez they are the dumbest org of all time. Most teams realize that it was the New York Jets that won those playoff games, not Mark Sanchez.

Teams don't fall all over themselves to trade for one of the worst QBs in the league. It's no where near a "huge" market if one even exists at all.

Solid opening post, but you're gonna catch heat from all the single, lonely mouth breathers on this Vday.

The only thing JI likes to talk about with reference to Sanchez, is another man's ass.

Edit to include: I'd tone down the "huge." There's definitely a market, but not huge; especially considering that everyone knows he'll be UFA after this season.

Of course Tranny says that. Makes his decision to give Sanchez that moronic extension seems less moronic. His media tour is all bout reputation damage control so he can get another job.

Sanchez has started 70 games in his entire career and you cite 2 games as a tribute to his greatness and trade value?

Please name the team/GM who can possibly think they can win with the statistically worst starting QB in the NFL?

Of all the obvious characterizations of Tannenbaum, that is one that I had not visualized before ... deftly done.

There're 32 NFL teams and the vast Majority of them don't have a QB. The Bills, The Jags, The Cards, The Titans, The Bucs, The Vikes, The Browns,The Chiefs, The Raiders and Last but not least the Jets. Of those teams, only Mark Sanchez and Josh Freeman are young enough and have shown just enough to make a team contemplate looking at them.

I think that's a big market, and if Sanchez is willing to redo his contract to facilitate a trade, then the market is set.

Tinstar's post obviously went over your head.

Despite Mark's lack of success last season, he's still young and has 2 trips to the AFC championship under his belt. There's trade value there.

It may come down to Sanchez needing a change of scenery.

Once upon a time the Jets managed to trade Brooks Bollinger. That was a small market. Mark Sanchez has a huge market. I highlighted 9 team that need a QB . If the Remaining 21 teams, how many have a backup as accomplish as Mark Sanchez.

I am glad you're not the GM. Quit thinking like an angry Fan and start thinking like someone with an asset.

Bollinger wasn't set to make 8 mill guaranteed though...

And this is why no trade market exists. The Bollinger example is dumb. Bollinger didn't have a big contract. Mark is guaranteed a lot of money this year making him untradeable for now.

Unfortunately, 90% of our fanbase is known for not thinking outside the box, and not taking into account the entire picture.

The Jets have no position of strength from which to deal. This has to be something Sanchez is willing to do. If Mark is willing to restructure his deal and make it friendly to accomodate a trade, then the market is set. He will be betting on himself, and that is where the Jets have to steer him.

The Jets have only 2 options in this whole deal.

1 - Keep Sanchez and upset the Fan base even more if he's the starter next yr.

2 - Cut Sanchez and deal with the dead Money and obtaining nothing in return for a top 5 1st round draft pick.

Didn't go over my head at all. As others have noted, his current contract makes him untradable. And I see no reason why he wouldn't take his final payday as he'll likely never see that kind of money again.

And honestly, do you REALLY see a Qb where a change of scenery will make the difference, or do you see a QB without the skill set to read defenses, find the open receiver, make the necessary throughs with solid decision making, all traits required of a good NFL QB today?
