Post New Story: Jets Offer Jeff Cumberland $1.32 Million Tender

According to*Connor Orr of The Star-Ledger the Jets have reportedly "made a qualifying offer," to Jeff Cumberland at a "low-level tender that will cost the team $1.32 million." This type of low-level tender does not allow for the Jets to receive a draft pick if another team signs Cumberland, it would simply give the Jets the right to match any offer another team might make. If the Jets decided at that point to match the offer they can keep him and if someone simply out prices them they'll let him walk and get nothing in return.

It's unlikely another team will...

Solid signing he can be a good weapon but needs to improve his blocking. Looks like Keller is a goner.

$1.32 is still overpaying but it is more reasonable than the $2 mil number which was outrageous for a JAG TE. Now all that's left to do is sign Fasano.

You do realize that is the lowest tender they can offer right? Otherwise they have to release him, so unless you think they should have just released him then the tender they offered isn't over paying.

Yes, Keller's not worth his asking price. Cumby's a capable enough pass catcher- the Jets really need more of a blocking TE.
