Talking Bloomberg's Soda Ban Blocked by Judge

A victory for individual liberty!!!!!!

This is why we should have upheld the term limits. This idiot once ran as a Republican and has now turned into a complete commie. I rarely drink soda but this was a precursor to gov't trying to control a larger aspect of our lives.

The commie vows to appeal.

If there was common sense there wouldn't be a market for 20 ounce soda. If rights were tied to common sense we wouldn't have any.

Soda is disgusting, but this decision is beyond delicious.

The arrogance of his presser after the ruling was amazing. His contempt for the masses was oozing.

Never mind the slippery slope of legislating how he thinks people should live their lives (where does that end?), NYC has enough problems he should be addressing as Mayor. This is all a big deflection away from the real issues he is ignoring.

The guy was always a pandering lib, btw, he was simply smart enough to jump on the Guiliani bandwagon in the chaos after 9/11 and stick with his Law Enforcement protocols.

As 32 points out....he gets elected under a quasi conservative platform and then the curtain is drawn to reveal an uber liberal.

Any one remember Dinkins worried about planes flying over the US Tennis Open while the city rotted?

NYC was a $hithole under Dinkins.

Those unemployed squeegee men are on Giuliani's conscience.

Thank you my friends. Thank you for seeing what a disconnected leader Michale Bloomberg is.

I feel it took something as trivial as the "soda ban" for ALL NY-ers to realize what an arrogant, condescending, disconnected leader Michael Bloomberg really is.

City worker have been dealing with this tyrannical behavior for over TEN years.

I hope NYers have learned their lesson when voting next time. Just because someone is a billionaires doesnt necessarily mean he has the social skills to for-fill the true needs of the people and working class.

Dont let the door hit you on the way out Bloomberg. You wont be missed.

^ There's nothing quite like the kind of fun it is listening to liberals getting mad at liberals for being liberals.

Once again you have nothing to contribute other than name call.

The mayor stands for whatever will get him more power.

Bloomberg is a liberal when it's convenient.

Bloomberg is a conservative when it's convenient.

Bloomberg is a is Republican when it's convenient.

Bloomberg is a Democrat when it's convenient.

Bloomberg is an Independent when it's convenient.

Students will say that the worst way a teacher can act is in a sarcastic and condescending way towards them.

Its all that Bloomberg knows

Maybe I was wrong. The irony of your contribution comment is also quite uniquely amusing.

Clearly we have drawn lines drugs would be a good example. Alcohol is restricted to those over 21, cigs to those over 18, heroin to those who are willing to buy from criminals, etc., etc., etc...

Type 2 diabetes is a practically an epidemic in the US and other parts of the world. Is it a public health issue? Should government deal with public health issues?

Now you may not like Mikes high handed approach but the problem is very real and I think while the focus of rights has clearly overshadowed the real problem, the problem isn't going away without the public being informed.
Despite what people might think, it’s not easy to buy groceries that don’t contain really dangerous chemicals and high doses of sugar. I would prefer that the 20” ounce soda had a large label that gave you the grams of sugar, calories, sodium and acid content. I have walked away from fast food in the NYC airports simply because the calorie content is listed on the board and I have decided not to eat a days’ worth of calories in 10 minutes before a flight. Granted if guys like Copernocious actually did their jobs we wouldn’t need the Mayor to constantly try and regulate our lives and beat down the teachers union.

The Mayor’s approach may have been over the top and even illegal but letting that get in the way of the fact that this is a real public health problem is a shame. I think Bloomberg was fully aware of that his move was a public relations stunt but I'm sure anyone who orders a 20" soda is going to think about it for a nano second before buying it and consuming it. That might be a very good result.
